
The Child Abuse Pediatrician is accountable for delivering comprehensive quality patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions according to standards of practice to children from birth through adolescence. The practice context is a specialized, multi-disciplinary suspected child abuse evaluation team. Primary site of clinical practice is at CT Children’s Medical Center as part of the SCAN (suspected child abuse and neglect) team.

Demonstrates knowledge of the population-specific differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CT Children’s STANDARDS.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises APRNs in the program as well as medical trainees at various levels (Fellow, resident, medical student) who are rotating with the SCAN team.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Board certification or eligible for board certification in Child Abuse Pediatrics
LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Current State of Connecticut MD licensure required and maintained thereafter.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA accredited) required upon hire and maintained thereafter.
