Join a leading defense technology company driving the next generation of airframes, launcher platforms, and aerospace‑grade mechanical systems. We are seeking a Chief Technician to provide advanced mechanical design capability across multiple high‑performance development programmes.

This role is ideal for a senior mechanical engineering professional with deep experience in aerospace, precision mechanical design, and full‑lifecycle engineering of complex systems.

Role Purpose

The Chief Technician supports the development, integration, testing, manufacture, and lifecycle sustainment of airframes, aircraft‑mounted equipment, launcher platforms, and associated hardware. You will translate engineering and operational requirements into robust, manufacturable, and compliant mechanical solutions while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead in‑house mechanical design activities supporting multiple development programmes.
Deliver mechanical design work across all lifecycle phases: concept, preliminary design, detailed design, development, manufacturing, production, end‑use support, and disposal.
Perform precise engineering calculations, including theoretical analysis and computational simulations.
Devise, organize, and implement engineering arrangements, revisions, and configuration updates.
Develop and establish test specifications, procedures, and verification plans to ensure compliance with design requirements.
Evaluate mechanical equipment performance against technical, functional, and environmental criteria.
Mentor, guide, and monitor mechanical engineers, supporting capability development within the team.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support project execution and resolve technical challenges.

Required Competencies

Ability to manage tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and high‑pressure technical environments.
Strong sense of accountability, ownership, and independent decision‑making.
Excellent visual and spatial awareness, attention to detail, and problem‑solving capability.
Advanced proficiency in mathematics, CAD tools, and Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
Effective technical communication with engineers, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams.
Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.

Experience & Qualifications

Minimum experience:
21 years (NTC5)
17 years (T3)
15 years (T4 / B.Tech)
10 years (M.Tech)
Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (NTC5, T3, B.Tech/T4, M.Tech or equivalent).
Strong working knowledge across the broad spectrum of mechanical engineering, ideally within aerospace or guided munition development and manufacturing.
