With a statewide staff of more than 800 auditors and other professionals, the Auditor of State's office is responsible for auditing all public offices in Ohio, (nearly 6,000 entities). This includes cities, counties, villages, townships and schools.
The Local Government Services (LGS) Staff is seeking to fill a Chief Technical Specialist (CTS) vacancy to serve the entire Division. The ideal candidate will have a strong governmental accounting background including extensive experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and knowledge of the inner workings of local governments.
Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the Chief Technical Specialist will provide technical and professional guidance related to local government accounting. The CTS will also provide technical leadership, interpret GASB/GAAP pronouncements, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Desired qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, and four years of professional experience in governmental accounting. Certification as a CPA, CGFO, or CGFM may benefit the applicant. The candidate should also have strong written and oral communication, the ability to lead teams, and the ability to understand complex technical accounting issues.
