About the Role

The Chief Research Officer provides strategic leadership of Excelsia University College’s research portfolio, driving research excellence, innovation, impact and growth in alignment with the University College’s mission and vision.

Primary responsibilities include:

• To articulate, lead, and deliver Excelsia University College’s (Excelsia) research strategy, aligned with the mission and vision of Excelsia.
• To ensure the integrity and promote the quality of Excelsia’s research outputs and endeavours.
• To drive research impact, including but not limited to:
• To provide strategic leadership and oversight of Excelsia’s research portfolio, and to lead and manage the Head of Research (Graduate Programs) and research staff, ensuring effectiveness, efficiency, and optimal research outcomes.
• To support academic career development and work to create a culture of excellence and sustainable growth in research and enterprise.

Selection Criteria

Qualifications and Professional Standing:

• Committed Christian involved in a local congregation.
• Earned Doctorate from an accredited and respected national or international University, preferably in a discipline area consistent with the College's academic disciplinary expertise.
• Strong research record as evidenced by the securing of external funding and an excellent publication record, preferably in refereed journals.
• Five or more years of demonstrated excellent higher education management skills with an ability to administer research strategy at a higher education provider.
• Experience in leading a university department as well as involvement in institution academic governance will be an advantage.
• Demonstrated capability to develop, launch, review, and enhance programs with strong outcomes.
• Demonstrated leadership capability including mentoring and coaching researchers to deliver.
• Proven ability to facilitate and manage organisational change.
• In depth understanding of research governance, integrity, and compliance frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience as strategic thinker with proven ability to both prioritise critical goals and execute strategies in the successful achievement of goals within budget and time frame constraints.
• Ability to demonstrate high integrity, vision, innovation, energy and enthusiasm for the mission, vision and values of the College and to be self-motivated in a fast pace changing environment.
