Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Chief Product Owner, Digital, UNITE & Modernisation.

What’s the role?

This is one of the most strategically important product leadership roles in Westpac's transformation journey.

As Chief Product Owner, Digital - Unite & Modernisation, you'll sit at the intersection of customer experience, technology modernisation, large-scale transformation and enterprise delivery. You'll be responsible for shaping the strategy, roadmap and execution of critical digital experiences that support one of the Bank's most significant transformation programs, UNITE, while helping modernise the platforms, propositions and experiences that will define Westpac's future.

You'll translate bold strategic ambition into tangible outcomes for customers, colleagues and the business. This isn't a role for someone who simply manages governance, reports or delivery plans. We're looking for a proven product leader who has personally built and delivered digital experiences at scale, can navigate complexity with confidence and thrives in an environment where competing priorities, executive stakeholders and ambitious transformation goals are part of everyday life.

Leading across a highly visible and complex transformation landscape, you'll work closely with senior executives, technology leaders, architects, delivery teams and business stakeholders to modernise critical customer and employee experiences. You'll balance long-term strategic thinking with hands-on product leadership, making difficult trade-offs, influencing investment decisions and ensuring product outcomes remain aligned to Westpac's broader transformation agenda.

You'll build and lead a high-performing Product Owner capability, elevate product craft, champion customer-centred design and embed modern product practices, including the use of AI, to accelerate delivery and improve decision-making. Above all, you'll create the conditions for teams to deliver meaningful customer outcomes at speed, without compromising risk, quality or experience.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, you'll demonstrate the following:

  • Significant experience leading customer-facing digital products and experiences at enterprise scale, with clear accountability for strategy, roadmap, delivery and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success leading significant large and complex transformation, modernisation or platform renewal programs in large, matrixed organisations, preferably banking or financial services.
  • Proven capability operating at Executive level, influencing senior stakeholders and navigating competing priorities in high-pressure environments
  • Deep product leadership experience across digital channels, with strong understanding of modern architecture, digital ecosystems and technology-enabled transformation.
  • GM-level strategic capability, including ownership of product strategy, roadmaps, investment priorities, difficult trade-offs and measurable outcomes.
  • Significant experience leading mobile and digital experiences at scale, supported by measurable customer, engagement and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated application of AI and modern product practices to improve delivery speed, quality, decision-making and team effectiveness.
  • Proven track record building high-performing Product Owner teams, elevating capability and creating a culture focused on outcomes, ownership and continuous improvement.
