Job Description

Is the prime coordinator for notification, reporting and assuring smooth functioning of equipment and overseeing Technologist's activity to include training and education. Locations include: Bay State Hosptial, Cooley, Berkshire, Northamptom, & Pittsfield region.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Responsibilities · Is the prime coordinator for notification, reporting and assuring smooth functioning of equipment · Responsible for overseeing Technologist's activity to include training and education · Plans, directs, and organizes Technologist activity and implementation of protocols · Is responsible for covering schedules in the event of sick calls or PTO · Is available for consultation on an emergency basis should problems arise · Promotes a harmonious and professional working relationship throughout the PET/CT department, throughout the organization and with referral sources ·

Patient Care

· Assumes responsibility for delivering patient care.

· Initiates, monitors and terminates procedures after consultation with Authorized User/Medical Director

· Assists with patient related complaints/issues

· Assumes responsibility that all patients are informed as to clinical policies and addresses patient inquires or

ensures follow through by qualified personnel.

Equipment

· Has a thorough working knowledge of equipment currently in use, and specific effects which can be

reasonably anticipated with the various types of equipment.

· Establishes a schedule of preventative maintenance, and maintains proper documentation of such

· Establishes a schedule for complete equipment quality control, and maintains proper documentation of such.

· Establishes a schedule for Radiation Safety Committee Meetings, and maintains proper documentation of such

· In the event of improperly functioning equipment, notifies the proper parties to correct the situation and/or secure additional equipment for use

· Assures adequate supplies of medical and radiographic equipment

Evaluation of Equipment and Education:

· Assumes responsibility for teaching and planning proper cleaning of equipment

· Assists in developing new procedural techniques and implementing such techniques or protocols as directed by the Medical Director.

· Assists in evaluating new equipment and performance of existing equipment.

· Makes recommendations and communicates on a regular basis with the Medical Director and Chief

Operating Officer.

· Reports on the technical competence of Technologists to the Medical Director and critiques such

· Cooperates in the orientation and training of new protocols.

· Participates in and attends staff meetings

· Works to promote a sense of worth in all personnel by recognition of their individual contributions to the center's team.

· Continually strives to maintain and upgrade competence, education and skills. Utilizes professional

resources as well as self-motivational techniques to do so.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Should possess an Associates of Applied Science Degree from an approved collegiate or hospital based Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine or Therapy Program and be CNMT or ARRT certified.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· Must have at least 6 months of PET or PET/CT experience and have adequate on-the-job training on maintenance of equipment.

· Able to identify or detect and correct any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions or, if unable to do so, able to contact proper resource for repair.
