The COO is responsible for various operational and administrative tasks, including operational strategy, policy development, resource management, team leadership, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and data analysis. They should have demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare operations, with additional experience in ABA or developmental disabilities considered a plus. Strong skills in strategic thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication are essential, along with a proven ability to lead teams and manage financial operations effectively. Familiarity with relevant regulatory agencies is also preferred.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) must possess a strategic mindset, with the ability to see the broader organizational landscape and develop long-term operational strategies. They should be adept at identifying and prioritizing risk, and at implementing solutions to mitigate, minimize, and monitor those risks. Sound judgment is critical, particularly in knowing when to act independently and when to seek input from colleagues or leadership. This role demands resilience and strong stress-management skills, enabling the COO to serve as a steady, composed, and encouraging presence—especially during periods of challenge or change.
