The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior executive responsible for driving organizational growth, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the COO will oversee strategic planning, financial management, organizational development, governance, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the successful achievement of institutional objectives.
Main Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Financial Management
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Lead budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation processes.
- Identify and develop diversified revenue streams through grants, partnerships, and consultancy services.
- Monitor financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Operations & Organizational Development
- Lead organizational improvement and transformation initiatives.
- Strengthen operational processes, policies, and systems to improve efficiency and accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement across administration, finance, procurement, and support functions.
Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee risk management frameworks and internal controls.
- Support Board reporting and institutional governance requirements.
Talent & Stakeholder Management
- Lead talent acquisition, performance management, and succession planning initiatives.
- Foster a high-performance and collaborative organizational culture.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, development partners, government agencies, and key stakeholders.
Digital Transformation
- Promote the adoption of technology and digital solutions to improve operational effectiveness and decision-making.
Main Requirements:
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of senior leadership experience, preferably within non-profit, development, research, or international organizations.
- Proven experience managing large budgets, organizational change, and institutional growth.
- Strong expertise in strategic planning, financial management, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
