About Trexquant

Trexquant is a systematic investment firm focused on building the research and trading infrastructure required to discover and deploy quantitative strategies across global markets.

Our mission is to build a platform that enables researchers to backtest and implement almost any type of cross-region and cross-asset alpha idea. We want researchers to be able to move efficiently from an investment hypothesis to simulation, evaluation, and ultimately production trading.

Achieving this requires much more than building a backtester. It requires an integrated research and trading platform that supports multiple asset classes, regions, data sources, execution venues, brokers, and counterparties.

The Role

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer who can turn this vision into an executable plan and ensure that the organization delivers on it.

The COO will work closely with the CEO and leaders across research, engineering, trading, data, operations, and other functions to establish clear goals, assign ownership, identify dependencies, and drive projects through completion.

This is a highly execution-oriented role. We are looking for someone who can take ambitious, sometimes loosely defined objectives and translate them into concrete projects with measurable milestones and accountable owners.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate Trexquant's strategic vision into clear, measurable company-wide goals and execution plans.
• Drive the development of a unified research and trading platform capable of supporting cross-region and cross-asset quantitative strategies.
• Coordinate research, engineering, data, trading, execution, and operational teams to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is delivered.
• Establish priorities, milestones, ownership, and timelines for major initiatives and continuously track progress against them.
• Identify bottlenecks and dependencies that prevent researchers from moving efficiently from an idea to backtest to production.
• Help expand the firm's capabilities across equities, futures, corporate bonds, options, ETFs, FX, and other asset classes.
• Coordinate the operational infrastructure required to trade across multiple markets, brokers, counterparties, and execution venues.
• Develop scalable processes that allow the organization to continue executing effectively as the firm grows.
• Hold teams accountable for results while helping remove organizational and technical obstacles.
• Continuously look for opportunities to automate processes and use AI to make research, engineering, trading, and operations more efficient.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is an exceptional operator who combines strategic thinking with a strong bias toward execution.

You should be comfortable working across highly technical teams and understanding complex systems well enough to identify the important problems, ask the right questions, establish priorities, and ensure that they are solved.

• Understand technology and quantitative systems sufficiently to work effectively with researchers and engineers.

• Are intellectually curious and willing to learn unfamiliar areas quickly.
• Are comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve as new opportunities emerge.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means steadily removing the barriers between a researcher's idea and its implementation.

Over time, a Trexquant researcher should be able to formulate a cross-asset or cross-region investment hypothesis, access the necessary data, backtest it accurately, evaluate it, and deploy it to production through a common platform with increasingly little manual infrastructure work.

The COO's responsibility is to help organize and drive the company toward making that vision a reality.

The base salary range is $200,000 to $300,000, depending on candidates’ educational and professional background. Base salary is only one part of Trexquant’s total compensation, which may include a discretionary and performance based bonus.
