Key Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include the safe planning and execution of all cargo and ballast operations, ensuring ship stability and structural integrity throughout the voyage. As a key member of the bridge team, the officer maintains a safe navigational watch and leads the deck department in emergency response situations.

Administrative duties encompass the maintenance of the hull, fittings, and crew accommodations, alongside the management of deck stores and maintenance records. The role involves acting as the Ship Security Officer and overseeing environmental protection measures, including garbage management. Furthermore, the Chief Officer is responsible for promoting safe working practices, conducting regular safety inspections, and ensuring all lifesaving and firefighting equipment is fully operational and compliant with international regulations.
