Why We Need You:
The Chief of Staff facilitates effective executive leadership and helps to operationalize strategic imperatives and initiatives. This management director-level role helps the Executive Team operate with clarity, alignment, discipline, and speed by supporting executive planning processes, operating rhythms, decision-making, communication, and cross-functional coordination.
Acting as a trusted liaison between the Executive Team and the broader enterprise – particularly the director team – the Chief of Staff ensures that strategic priorities are translated into actionable goals, executive decisions are documented and executed, and critical initiatives receive the focus and coordination needed to achieve desired outcomes.
Working through influence without direct authority, the Chief of Staff helps build organizational alignment, operating performance, and enterprise agility with accountable business leaders and delivery teams.
The Chief of Staff is a facilitator of executive team efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment; a key supporter (and as assigned, potential leader) of executive team-sponsored initiatives and strategic execution; and a trusted extension of and liaison between the executive team, senior leaders, and the enterprise. The Chief of Staff enables stronger executive team discussion, decision making, alignment, and accountability to help drive improved enterprise execution and outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- This role’s key responsibilities are in the areas of facilitating and helping continuously improve the enterprise strategy process, supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the Executive Team’s operating model, and supporting executive-sponsored initiatives that require enterprise coordination.
- Annual Strategy Planning: Plan and facilitate the annual strategic planning process; coordinate executive participation, timelines, deliverables, decision points, and communication; synthesize inputs into actionable outputs and next steps.
- Enterprise Priority and Goal Cascade: Support executive development of enterprise priorities and strategic objectives and initiatives; support the cascade and communication of enterprise priorities and strategic objectives across functions; serve as a resource to directors as they operationalize enterprise priorities, strategic objectives and initiatives.
- Enterprise Strategy Progress Reviews: Support periodic review of enterprise priority achievement and strategic execution; monitor progress against executive commitments and escalate issues appropriately; provide executive team reporting and insights regarding progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Multi-year Strategy Development: Support development and refinement of three- to five-year strategic plans; support scenario planning, strategic trade-off discussions, and strategic investment decisions; track strategic assumptions, decisions, and next steps.
- Weekly Executive Team Business Updates: Partner with CEO and other executives to identify and manage team priorities and agendas; anticipate and prepare briefings and other necessary materials in advance; facilitate executive discussion to ensure it remains focused, concise, and decision-oriented; document and distribute decisions, action items, follow-up, and accountabilities to ensure executives have the right information at the right time.
- Executive Team Advance Planning and Facilitation: Manage overall executive team calendar and executive team events; support planning of annual Executive Advances and strategy discussions; develop agendas, support content development, distribute pre-work, facilitate discussion, document outcomes; facilitate communication about outcomes with senior leaders to ensure alignment and clarity on decisions, action items, and next steps.
- Executive Team Decision Governance, Accountability, Follow-through. Document executive team decisions, action items, and needed follow-through; track and ensure decisions are documented, communicated, and monitored through completion; support consistent decision-making practices within executive and director teams.
- Executive Team/Board of Directors Support:Partner with CEO, Chief Governance Officer, and other executive team members to prepare for Board of Director meetings; ensure timely, accurate, appropriate, and effective materials, presentations, and communications.
- Executive Team Deep Dives/Special Topics:As requested, support planning and delivery of executive deep dives and working sessions on special topics; facilitate and coordinate ongoing discussions and actions to operationalize session outcomes.
- Executive Team Sponsored Initiatives: Support the development of and monitor progress of key executive-sponsored strategic initiatives; as assigned, lead or coordinate special projects on behalf of the CEO and Executive Team; for assigned initiatives, establish objectives, governance structures, timelines, stakeholder engagement plans, and success measures; ensure effective handoffs of assigned initiatives to accountable business leaders and delivery teams as appropriate.
- Executive Team Communications: Draft executive-level communications, presentations and reports to support enterprise understanding of executive team priorities, decisions, and expectations; act as trusted liaison between the executive team, directors, and the broader organization to strengthen two-way communication channels between leadership and the organization.
- Cross-Functional Support: Foster alignment, collaboration, and communication across departments; build relationships that enable effective influence and execution without direct authority; serve as a connector and problem-solver across organizational boundaries.
- Perform additional responsibilities and special assignments as required by the CEO and Executive Team.

What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Organizational Leadership, Public Administration, Communications, or related field
- Master's degree (MBA or related discipline) preferred
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting executive leadership, strategy communication, and operationalization – insurance industry highly preferred, personal lines insurance ideal
- Experience supporting senior executives, executive teams, boards of directors, or complex cross-functional initiatives – insurance industry highly preferred, personal lines insurance ideal
- Demonstrated success supporting and, as assigned, leading enterprise-wide initiatives that require alignment across multiple functions
- Experience supporting strategic planning, governance, organizational effectiveness, business transformation, or program leadership
- Expertise using AI and digital tools to improve individual and executive team productivity and impact
- Insurance, financial services, or highly regulated industry experience highly preferred
- Experience supporting and communicating executive discussion, decisions, and strategic direction and supporting responsible leaders to operationalize them into measurable priorities, goals, and outcomes
- Expertise in executive meeting design, facilitation, decision support, and operating rhythm management
- Ability to support productive discussions among senior leaders with diverse viewpoints
- Strong understanding of insurance business operations, operational effectiveness, and financial performance
- Ability to connect enterprise trends to strategic implications
- Strong research, analytical, synthesis, and problem-solving capabilities

Compensation:
The pay range for this role is shown below. Compensation decisions are determined based on an individual’s qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Greater Seattle area target pay range: $198,190 - $242,232. The full pay range is $165,158 - $275,264.
- Outside Greater Seattle area target pay range: $174,907 - $213,775. The full pay range is $145,755 - $242,926.
Greater Seattle Area is defined as working within approximately 100 miles of Seattle.
Outside Greater Seattle is defined as working approximately 100 miles or more from Seattle.
