Job Description

Quest Software builds the foundation for enterprise AI with solutions in data governance, cybersecurity, and platform modernization More than 45,000 companies — including 90% of the Fortune 500 — trust Quest to solve their most critical IT challenges. From securing identities and modernizing platforms to preparing data for AI, we help enterprises unlock their full potential.

About the Role

Quest Software is seeking a highly strategic and execution-oriented Chief of Staff to partner directly with the CEO in driving the company’s most critical business priorities. This is not a traditional coordination role—it is a high-impact operating position designed for a proven enterprise software leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, execution, and operational excellence.

The Chief of Staff will serve as an extension of the CEO, working across product, sales, go-to-market, and functional leadership teams to accelerate execution, improve operating rigor, and ensure alignment across the organization. The ideal candidate brings both strategic perspective and hands-on operational capability, with the ability to move seamlessly between executive-level planning and day-to-day business execution.

This role offers direct exposure to the executive leadership team and Board of Directors, with meaningful influence on company direction, operational performance, and long-term growth strategy.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a strategic and operational extension of the CEO across the company’s highest-priority initiatives
  • Drive execution of enterprise-wide initiatives including platform consolidation, cross-sell acceleration, and go-to-market transformation
  • Lead the company’s operating cadence, including executive reviews, KPI tracking, forecasting rigor, and business performance management
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Business Unit leaders to drive alignment and accelerate decision-making
  • Identify and resolve organizational bottlenecks, competing priorities, and execution gaps across leadership teams
  • Support commercial execution through improved pipeline management, segmentation strategy, pricing and packaging optimization, and partner/channel effectiveness
  • Collaborate with the CRO and go-to-market leadership to improve forecast accuracy and revenue predictability
  • Prepare executive-level communications, board materials, strategic updates, and investor-facing content
  • Lead high-impact strategic initiatives including M&A integration, portfolio optimization, organizational design, and market expansion efforts
  • Establish accountability frameworks and ensure follow-through on key business objectives and CEO priorities
  • Drive operational discipline while maintaining agility in a fast-paced enterprise software environment
  • Influence senior leaders through data-driven insights, strategic thinking, and strong executive presence

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

Experience

  • Proven experience leading a business unit, owning a P&L, or managing a significant function within an enterprise software organization
  • Strong background in enterprise software, ideally within organizations such as Dell Technologies, VMware, or private equity-backed software companies
  • Demonstrated success driving cross-functional execution and operational transformation initiatives
  • Deep understanding of enterprise go-to-market models, platform strategies, and commercial growth levers
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including forecasting, pipeline management, pricing strategy, and KPI development
  • Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels of the organization
  • Exceptional executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • High degree of accountability, urgency, and execution focus
  • Ability to influence and challenge senior leadership constructively while building trust and alignment
  • Comfortable operating in dynamic, fast-paced, and high-growth environments
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of leadership or operating experience in enterprise technology or software businesses

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 12 months, the successful candidate will have:

  • Established a disciplined and measurable operating cadence across the business
  • Improved forecast accuracy and pipeline quality
  • Accelerated execution of platform and cross-sell initiatives
  • Increased speed and quality of executive decision-making
  • Built strong credibility and influence with senior leadership as a trusted operator and thought partner
