Drawing upon our global team and expansive network of senior advisors, we provide advisory services across our five business segments on a stand-alone or fully integrated basis to help our clients solve complex business challenges. Our clients include a significant number of the Fortune 100 and FTSE 100, as well as other corporations, financial institutions and organizations.

Our full range of advisory services includes strategic communications, investor relations, financial transactions and restructuring, management consulting, physical and cyber risk, organizational design, board and executive search, geopolitics and government affairs, corporate governance and ESG.

The firm has more than 1,800 employees located in 50+ offices around the world.

Reporting directly to Teneo’s Global Political Risk President and Managing Partner of WestExec Advisors, the Chief of Staff should be an initiative-taking and dedicated individual with an ambitious spirit and keen critical thinking skills. The CoS will play a key role in helping the President run the Political Risk business in collaboration with Teneo’s strategic partner, WestExec Advisors, overseeing initiatives, client management, key relationships, and the preparation of materials for internal and external meetings. The ideal candidate will function effectively under tight deadlines, demonstrate confidence and sound judgment in a fast-paced, highly demanding work environment while exhibiting excellent client service skills and professionalism in all interactions. The CoS will ensure ideas translate into actionable outcomes, show a bias toward execution, and coordinate seamlessly across internal demands and client delivery.

Responsibilities

The CoS will play a broad role in supporting the President and the Political Risk team. He or she will work closely with the President to manage team initiatives, client relationships, and business development opportunities, and lead the preparation for and follow-up on meetings, developing the necessary materials and content, and coordinating agendas.

Operational coordination & team effectiveness

  • Manage the day-to-day work involved in the Political Risk business: producing and refining deliverables –briefing memos, analyses, media coverage reports, internal management reports, and others.
  • Promote team integration as well as cross-functional communication and collaboration.
  • Manage key relationships and build a process to track and nurture key stakeholders, investors, and clients

Strategic execution & leadership support

  • Serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor to the President, attending meetings, challenging ideas and offering a different perspective, and then following up on action items with the team accordingly
  • Act as an extension of the President’s information funnel, filter information effectively, and be a facilitator with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Execute against team objectives and plans as a reliable, adaptable resource for the President, and oversee the work of others as appropriate

Client delivery & content development

  • Assist with the team’s client engagements, contributing to client teamwork, helping to ensure the delivery of effective communications, high work quality and awareness of business opportunities and challenges
  • Support the team’s Managing Directors by drafting briefings, decks, and other deliverables; interfacing with clients, as appropriate; and standing in for them on Client engagements as needed.
  • Manage both strategic and tactical requests, handling the oversight of projects that do not fit neatly within the organizational chart or that fall between departments or leadership areas of responsibility

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in consulting, government, public affairs, corporate communications, political and/or policy developments
  • Strong history of working with senior level firm management and senior level clients
  • Experience managing teams and contributing to enterprise-wide projects
  • Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to see complex projects through to execution
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and financial markets
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; advanced PowerPoint is necessary
