Santander CIB is looking for a Chief Information Officer (CIO) – Corporate & Investment Banking based out of Corporativo Banco santa Fe.

This role will define, lead, and execute the technology strategy for the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business, ensuring scalable, resilient, and modern technology platforms that support Markets, Cash Management, Trade Finance, and Banking products. The position is responsible for driving innovation, core modernization, digital transformation, and technology enablement aligned with business growth objectives and client needs.

  • Defining and leading the end-to-end technology strategy for the CIB business, with a strong focus on Markets technology platforms and architecture.
  • Driving the modernization of trading, risk, payments, and transaction banking platforms, ensuring scalability, resilience, and performance.
  • Partnering closely with business leaders across Markets, Cash Management, Trade Finance, and Banking to deliver technology capabilities aligned with commercial objectives and client needs.
  • Leading large-scale transformation initiatives focused on cloud adoption, platform simplification, automation, APIs, and digital enablement.
  • Overseeing the architecture, engineering, development, and delivery of mission-critical systems supporting front-to-back business processes.
  • Promoting innovation and adoption of emerging technologies, including Data, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and real-time processing capabilities.
  • Defining enterprise technology standards and target architectures aligned with business growth and future scalability.
  • Managing complex technology environments, reducing legacy dependencies while improving engineering efficiency and delivery capabilities.
  • Leading strategic vendor relationships, technology partnerships, and system integration initiatives.
  • Building and developing high-performing technology teams with strong engineering, architecture, and delivery capabilities.

The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for success in this role.

Professional Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in technology leadership roles within Corporate & Investment Banking, Wholesale Banking, or global financial institutions. (Required)
  • 10+ years of experience in senior technology leadership positions such as CIO, CTO, Head of Technology, or equivalent. (Required)
  • Proven experience leading large-scale technology transformation programs within banking environments. (Required)
  • Strong track record managing complex technology ecosystems supporting Markets businesses. (Required)
  • Deep exposure to Capital Markets, Foreign Exchange (FX), Derivatives, and trading environments. (Required)
  • Experience with Cash Management, Trade Finance, and Banking platforms. (Preferred)
  • Experience modernizing core platforms, digital architectures, and enterprise technology capabilities. (Required)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. (Required)
  • MBA or postgraduate degree in Technology, Business Administration, Digital Transformation, or a related discipline. (Preferred)

Languages

  • Advanced or Fluent English. (Required)

Hard Skills

  • Deep knowledge of Markets technology, including trading platforms, front-to-back architecture, FX, derivatives, and risk systems. (Required)
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, distributed systems, APIs, cloud technologies, and microservices. (Required)
  • Experience with payments, transaction banking, Cash Management, and Trade Finance platforms. (Preferred)
  • Expertise in core banking modernization and digital transformation initiatives. (Required)
  • Strong knowledge of Data platforms, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and automation technologies. (Required)
  • Experience managing large-scale technology delivery organizations and complex system integrations. (Required)
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, platform scalability, and technology resilience. (Required)
