Job Description
The CIDO and Vice President of Information Technology (IT) will be responsible for leading the organization’s Information Technology function which sits within Sensata’s Chief Growth and Transformation Office. The role designs a strategic vision for the global IT function/organization at Sensata, and how technology will transform the business, help foster AI-driven productivity, value-added services as the next engines of growth, and crafts a compelling enterprise narrative on the changes required for success in digitization and IT modernization.
The CIDO and VP of IT is responsible for the strategy, management, and execution of Sensata’s Global IT organization. This includes setting objectives and strategies, selecting and implementing suitable technology to streamline internal operations and optimize their strategic benefits, product and cybersecurity solutions, and designing and customizing technological systems and platforms. Additionally, the role is responsible for implementing digital tools—including AI and machine learning capabilities—to enable better decision-making across the organization and to improve the customer experience. The role is also responsible for making continuous improvements in IT infrastructure, high quality support for employees globally in hardware and software needs.
This role is located at our Corporate Headquarters in Attleboro, MA and will report directly to our EVP, Chief Growth & Transformation Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Direction & Modernization
- Develop and execute an IT strategy that leverages emerging technologies (cloud computing, SaaS, subscription models, AI/ML) to support business objectives.
- Drive a roadmap of IT modernization and infrastructure (physical, cloud, etc.) that meets the needs of a rapidly changing company and keeps pace with industry peers.
- Work with stakeholders to continually optimize IT governance and decision-making processes as the business context and technology landscape evolve.
- Drive continuous improvement of daily support for global Sensata employees across hardware, software, mobile devices, etc.
- Work collaboratively across business units and technology leadership to deliver integrated solutions that accelerate innovation, operational efficiency, and reduced costs for services delivered.
IT Service & Product Delivery
- Ensure delivery, and continuous improvement of core IT services and products meets excellent standards—such as timely provisioning of equipment for new hires, effective first-time resolution of support requests, and reliable day-to-day operational support for hardware, software, applications, infrastructure, etc.
- Design and execute the organization-wide master data roadmap, including engagement models for data governance, data engineering, data science, and machine learning.
- Provide internal and external connections needed to implement enterprise-wide changes required for success in digitization and foster excellent relationships with core software and infrastructure providers (current and future)
- Oversee sourcing decisions and scalable vendor management processes.
- Direct and oversee the management of the IT budget process, costs, and resources for the IT organization.
- Responsible for business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Artificial Intelligence & Advanced Analytics
- Develop and help support an enterprise AI strategy that aligns with business objectives and drives value creation across Sensata internal company operations, processes, etc.
- Establish governance for AI usage, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and responsible deployment.
- Integrate AI and machine learning into core business processes, data analytics, and decision-making to enhance efficiency, enhance productivity through automation, and accelerate growth.
- Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and assess their applicability for enterprise-scale solutions, fostering a culture of continuous innovation.
Cybersecurity Leadership
- Continue to enhance and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy, which aligns with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and emerging threats.
- Implement robust risk management practices, including vulnerability assessments, incident response planning, and continuous monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with global data privacy and security regulations while fostering a culture of security awareness across the organization.
- Integrate cybersecurity into enterprise IT initiatives, digital transformation, and product development to safeguard systems and data.
- Drive continuous improvement through adoption of advanced security technologies, analytics, and strategic partnerships with external experts.
Financial Governance & Operational Excellence
- Continue to improve IT financial governance models and work with business units to create a clear and positive experience when requesting IT support.
- Strengthen financial rigor in the annual budgeting process.
- Empower the IT team to drive productivity and enable modernization by proactively identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost reductions such as optimizing licenses, strengthening vendor partnerships, and adopting common global tools.
- Evaluate the potential of a high-quality BCC/LCC and shared services models for a subset of IT support services to drive additional levels of cost effectiveness in the IT operating model.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Build the next generation of leaders in the IT organization and fill key leadership gaps where they are identified.
- Oversee training programs to develop digital and AI-related skills across IT and business teams.
- Create a compelling employment value proposition to attract and retain critical talent.
- Elevate the presence and preparedness of IT leadership in senior management discussions and key partner engagements, including pre-meetings and workshops where needed.
- Provide proactive thought leadership on opportunities to drive additional growth and value through IT-enabled initiatives.
- Build confidence and trust between IT leadership and senior leaders, including the CEO and Board, through excellent execution of IT responsibilities and priorities.
Ideal Experience
Required:
- Deep experience in leading a global IT function and organization.
- Experience in building out IT teams that execute quickly and effectively while aligning to big-picture business objectives.
- Breadth of knowledge around Infrastructure and Operations, Applications, Project Management, and Information and Cyber Security
- Proven experience in developing and implementing AI/ML strategies, including governance, ethical use, and integration into business processes and analytics.
Experienced in Digital Transformations and able to serve as a SME in this arena.
- Hands-on experience with AI-driven tools and platforms for automation, predictive analytics, and decision support
- Product-driven company experience required.
- Superior project management and prioritization skills ensuring the delivery of complex projects on time, on-budget, and on-scope.
- Dynamic, engaging, self-reliant and entrepreneurial senior executive, accustomed to managing with a collaborative, fact-based approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to plan and execute projects within time and budget constraints.
- Integral knowledge of cybersecurity and related best practices
- Cybersecurity knowledge from both an Enterprise IT perspective as well as an end product perspective within a Software as a Service business
- Demonstrated ability to build followership.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields related to business, computer science, HR, or finance.
- 15+ years of professional experience; 10+ years of leadership
- US Citizenship or valid Green Card – we are an ITAR compliant company.
- Travel required – 25%
Preferred:
- Knowledge of GDPR strongly preferred.
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with M&A and subsequent integration of people, processes, and technology
- Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Technical Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Advanced Technical and Business Degrees preferred.
- Familiarity with Vendor/Partner-driven environments and SLA/KPI management
- Experience with Global ERP environments (Oracle or SAP)
- Exposure to emerging AI technologies and ability to assess their applicability for enterprise-scale solutions.
