The Chief of Human Resources (CHRO) is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team responsible for developing and executing comprehensive human resource strategy. The CHRO oversees all aspects of the organization’s human resources operations included but not limited to talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, workers compensation, leave management and organization development. Ensures the institution is fully compliant with all federal and state employment laws, regulations, and Joint Commission standards. The CHRO is responsible for Human Resources for all System entities including Anderson Hospital, Community Hospital of Staunton, Anderson Surgery Center, Maryville Imaging, Anderson Medical Group, and Anderson Healthcare.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the daily operations of Human Resources throughout the System.
  2. Oversees the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of all employees.
  3. Develops, implements, and administers all employee benefit plans.
  4. Develops and implements comprehensive human resource strategies that aligns with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  5. Ensure that all policies are administered fairly, consistently, and remain compliant with all federal and state laws and regulations.
  6. Responsible for the compensation function of human resources, including salary structure, market reviews and merit increases.
  7. Oversees the organization’s performance management program, including providing guidance and support to managers on performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
  8. Responsible for accurate administration of workers’ compensation benefits and leave management.
  9. Ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards.
  10. Develops and maintains positive employee relations by providing guidance and support to all System employees.
  11. Develops and manages annual departmental budget and allocates resources appropriately.
  12. Develop and implement a comprehensive human resource strategy that aligns with the organization’s strategic objectives, mission, and vision.
  13. Holds self and others accountable for achievement of goals which supports annual and long-term System objectives.
  14. Participates in community organizations and events as a representative of the Health System.
  15. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars and professional affiliations to keep appraised of the latest trends in human resources.
  16. Carries out special projects as assigned by the CEO or the System Board of Trustees.



Qualifications

Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

Education
Level:
Master’s degree required.

Certification/Licensure: SPHR preferred

Experience Requirements: Must have 10 years experience in the management of a Human Resources department, preferably in hospitals. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiar with Human Resources statistical information. Ability to work with and interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
