The Role

As Chief Financial Officer for Taiwan you’ll be accountable for Finance across HSBC Taiwan spanning financial reporting, local regulatory reporting, asset, liability and capital management, management information and tax compliance. You’ll provide the insight and analysis that helps country leadership, the Local Board and OPCO make clear decisions in a highly regulated environment. As Chair of ALCO you’ll oversee decisions that shape the liquidity, funding and capital framework in line with Group requirements. You’ll set a strong financial control framework that protects balance sheet integrity and ensures accurate reporting of financial results. You’ll also oversee Finance operations and build effective ways of working across onshore, GFOC and near-shore teams. Success means timely, accurate reporting, strong regulatory engagement and a Finance function that enables the business while maintaining independence as a control function.

What you'll be doing

  • Set the overall Finance strategy and governance for HSBC Taiwan across reporting, control and performance management
  • Govern financial reporting and local regulatory reporting ensuring high-quality submissions to regulators and Group
  • Chair ALCO and steer liquidity, funding and capital decisions in line with Group requirements
  • Establish a robust financial control framework that preserves balance sheet integrity and reporting accuracy
  • Oversee financial planning and performance tracking through clear management information and metrics
  • Manage statutory audit, regulatory inspections and ongoing engagement with auditors, regulators and tax authorities
  • Integrate Finance processes across onshore, GFOC and near-shore teams to strengthen delivery and controls
  • Advise the business on financial and regulatory impacts of new products and business initiatives

What we're looking for

  • Bring substantial senior Finance experience covering financial reporting, regulatory reporting and tax compliance
  • Demonstrate proven ownership of financial controls and governance within a regulated banking environment
  • Show established capability in asset, liability and capital management including liquidity, funding and capital planning
  • Offer strong experience partnering with senior stakeholders including country leadership, the Local Board and governance forums such as OPCO
  • Evidence effective oversight of statutory audit, external auditors and engagement with regulators and tax authorities
  • Bring knowledge of financing products in Global Banking & Markets and Securities businesses
  • Hold relevant professional qualifications such as accountancy qualifications or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Apply a track record of hiring, developing and guiding Finance teams including succession and continuity planning
  • Communicate effectively and fluency in English and Mandarin (spoken and written) is required.
