Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Ajah, Lagos State (Overseeing Finance Operations Across All Branches)

Industry: Pharmaceutical / Healthcare

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Managing Director / Board of Directors

Salary: ₦600,000 – ₦800,000 Net Monthly (Negotiable based on experience)

Our client, a reputable and rapidly expanding pharmaceutical and healthcare organization with multiple operational locations, is seeking to engage an experienced and commercially driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership across the organization.

The CFO will serve as a key member of the Executive Management Team and will be responsible for developing and executing the company's financial strategy, safeguarding organizational assets, driving profitability, ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance, and supporting sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will oversee all finance functions across the head office and branch operations while providing strategic advice to the Managing Director and Board of Directors.

This role requires a visionary finance executive with strong commercial acumen, exceptional leadership capabilities, and extensive experience in financial management within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, FMCG, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the organization's overall financial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to the Managing Director and Board of Directors.
  • Lead long-term financial planning to support business growth, expansion, acquisitions, and capital investments.
  • Drive initiatives that improve profitability, operational efficiency, and shareholder value.
  • Participate actively in executive management meetings and strategic business planning.

Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term business plans.
  • Monitor budget implementation across all business units and branches.
  • Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Develop financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Establish financial performance metrics and monitor organizational performance against approved budgets.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Present comprehensive financial reports to the Managing Director and Board of Directors.
  • Interpret financial data and provide meaningful business insights to improve operational performance.
  • Maintain high standards of financial accuracy, transparency, and accountability.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management

  • Develop and implement effective treasury management strategies.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital requirements.
  • Optimize cash utilization while maintaining adequate liquidity.
  • Manage banking relationships and negotiate favorable banking facilities.
  • Oversee investment decisions and financing arrangements.

Tax Planning & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable Nigerian tax regulations and statutory obligations.
  • Oversee corporate tax planning to optimize tax efficiency while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate timely filing and remittance of:
    • Companies Income Tax (CIT)
    • Value Added Tax (VAT)
    • Pay As You Earn (PAYE)
    • Withholding Tax (WHT)
    • National Pension Commission (PenCom) contributions
    • National Housing Fund (NHF), where applicable
    • Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF)
    • Industrial Training Fund (ITF)
  • Liaise effectively with relevant regulatory agencies, tax consultants, and external auditors.
  • Monitor changes in Nigerian tax laws and regulatory requirements, ensuring the organization remains fully compliant.

Internal Controls, Governance & Risk Management

  • Design, implement, and continuously strengthen internal control systems.
  • Establish financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Ensure robust fraud prevention and asset protection measures.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, ethical conduct, and financial discipline.

Audit & Regulatory Compliance

  • Coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of audit findings and implementation of recommendations.
  • Maintain compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Support regulatory inspections and financial due diligence exercises.

ERP Systems & Financial Technology

  • Lead the optimization and effective utilization of ERP and financial management systems.
  • Drive process automation to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure data integrity across all financial platforms.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives within the finance function.

Commercial Finance & Business Growth

  • Provide financial analysis for new business opportunities, expansion projects, and strategic investments.
  • Evaluate business performance and identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, investor reporting, financial due diligence, and corporate financing transactions.
  • Prepare financial feasibility studies and investment appraisals.

Branch Financial Oversight

  • Provide financial leadership across all branch operations.
  • Monitor branch profitability, inventory performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Standardize financial processes across all locations.
  • Conduct periodic branch financial reviews and compliance assessments.
  • Ensure effective financial governance throughout the organization.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounts team.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify training and development needs.
  • Build succession plans for key finance positions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree (MBA, MSc Finance, or related field) is an added advantage.
  • Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, or ICAN is mandatory.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies will be an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive finance experience
  • At least 3–5 years in a senior finance leadership role
  • Proven experience within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, FMCG, manufacturing, or other regulated industries
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing finance operations across multiple business locations.
  • Strong experience working directly with executive leadership and Boards of Directors.
  • Track record of driving business transformation, financial growth, and operational excellence.
