With operations spanning construction, property development and retirement living across the ACT, NSW and SA, the Group has built a strong reputation through its commitment to quality, long-term relationships and sustainable growth.

With a clear strategic direction and ambitious plans for the future, Hindmarsh is seeking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer to provide financial, commercial and strategic leadership across its diversified operations.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and forming part of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping the Group's future, strengthening financial performance and supporting the continued growth and evolution of its three core businesses.

THE MANDATE

This is an opportunity for an accomplished finance executive to extend beyond traditional financial stewardship and make a meaningful contribution to the strategic and commercial direction of an established Australian business.

Working closely with the CEO and executive leadership team, the CFO will provide the financial insight, commercial judgement and leadership necessary to support sustainable growth, optimise business performance and strengthen organisational capability.

The role will include:

  • Partnering with the CEO and executive team to shape and deliver the Group's long-term business strategy
  • Providing commercial and financial leadership across construction, property development and retirement living
  • Leading financial planning, capital management and investment decisions to support sustainable growth
  • Strengthening financial performance, balance sheet management and funding arrangements
  • Supporting business growth initiatives, strategic partnerships and new investment opportunities
  • Overseeing financial governance, risk management, compliance and Board reporting
  • Developing the finance function, strengthening systems and processes, and building capability across the existing team
  • Establishing trusted relationships with financial institutions, investors, advisers and other key stakeholders

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded finance executive who combines strong financial leadership with the judgement, confidence and capability to contribute meaningfully to broader business decisions.

You will have developed your career within a complex commercial environment, bringing experience across financial leadership, business strategy and organisational development. Importantly, you will demonstrate the ability to understand different business models, navigate commercial complexity and contribute to the long-term growth and performance of a diversified organisation.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior financial leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to influence commercial and strategic outcomes
  • Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to assess opportunities, manage risk and influence strategic decisions
  • Experience across financial strategy, business planning, capital management, governance and financial controls
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience evaluating investment opportunities, managing capital and supporting business growth
  • The credibility to engage confidently with CEOs, Boards, financial institutions and senior operational leaders
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing finance teams, building capability and strengthening business partnering
  • A progressive approach to systems, technology and financial reporting, with a focus on improving efficiency and decision-making
  • An enterprise mindset, with the ability to balance strategic priorities with sound financial governance and operational performance
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and CA or CPA accreditation

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an established and respected Australian business at an important stage in its evolution. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the Group's strategic direction, strengthen its financial and commercial capability, and contribute to its continued growth and long-term success.

The role will be based in Canberra, with interest welcomed from suitably qualified executives nationally. Relocation assistance is available for the successful candidate.
