Overview

Metropolitan Community College, Kansas City, Missouri (MCCKC) seeks recommendations, nominations and applications for the position of Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer provides strategic leadership and executive oversight for the College’s financial stewardship, long-range planning, budgeting, accounting, treasury, payroll, grants finance and compliance, financial systems, and related internal controls.

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, the CFO partners with the Chancellor, executive leadership team, Board of Trustees, and campus leaders to align financial resources with MCCKC’s mission, strategic priorities, and long-term sustainability. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead the development and implementation of innovative district-wide strategies, oversee multiple groups managing financial or other assets, and implement policies or procedures that increase operational efficiencies and improve fiduciary effectiveness while balancing a culture of strong financial stewardship and flexible and responsive service to the constituencies served.

MCCKC operates as one college with five campuses including MCC-Online and other educational sites, under the leadership of Chancellor Kimberly Beatty, who was appointed in 2017. MCCKC is one of the largest public education providers in the area, serving almost 20,000 students enroll at MCCKC each year in credit, non-credit and business services courses. More than 3,400 students earn an associate degree and/or certificate each year. Credit student enrollment has been increasing steadily since 2022. MCCKC currently offers over 120 associate degree and certificate programs on campus, online, or a combination of both as well as a new B.A.S. degree in Respiratory Therapy on campus.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the overall supervision and management of the fiscal resources of the college district, including financial and budget forecasting planning. The position is also responsible for the areas of accounting, treasury functions, grants finance and compliance, Foundation financials, payroll, and support of Administrative Services software systems. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to be entrepreneurial and help lead the development and implementation of innovative, districtwide strategies, oversee multiple groups managing financial or other assets, and implement policies or procedures that increase operational efficiencies and improve fiduciary effectiveness - while balancing a culture of strong financial stewardship and flexible, client customer service to the constituencies served.

The Chief Financial Officer has the following direct reports: Associate Vice Chancellor of Finance, Executive Director of Budget and Planning, Director of Business Systems Applications, Executive Director of Grants, and Financial Services Coordinator.
