Job Description

Griffin Industrial ("Griffin") brings together Griffin Marine, Westurn Engineering, Keisan Refrigeration and a trusted network of specialist partners under one banner. United as one group, we deliver the
scale, skill and speed required to successfully complete projects across defence, mining, infrastructure and marine.

At Griffin, every role has a purpose - and every person plays a part in getting the job done. When you work with us, you’ll join a team of highly skilled people who take pride in their craft, support one another, and are committed to delivering results that matter.

With a diverse set of capabilities and nationally supported operations, Griffin Industrial is committed to providing exceptional service—while creating long‑term, rewarding careers for the people who make it possible.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic financial leadership and governance across a complex, national organisation undergoing significant growth. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO leads financial strategy, performance, compliance, risk and
capital management, delivering clear commercial insights to support decision-making at Board and Managing Director level.

The role is central to acquisition evaluation and integration, building scalable financial systems and partnering with senior leadership to drive sustainable growth, profitability and cash flow.

This opportunity is suited to a high-performing senior finance leader ready to step into a CFO role, or an established CFO seeking a hands-on, growth-focused environment with genuine influence.

Griffin Marine operates nationally across Sydney, Perth, Cairns, Darwin and Brisbane — this position offers flexibility in location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead group financial strategy, governance and performance across a multi-entity national organisation
  • Oversee consolidated reporting, budgeting, forecasting and Board-level financial insights
  • Drive implementation of scalable finance systems, including integrated accounting and job-costing platforms
  • Lead transition to full accrual accounting, including revenue recognition and project WIP frameworks
  • Manage group cash flow, working capital, banking relationships and funding structures in a project-based environment
  • Contribute to Mergers and Acquisitions activity including due diligence, valuation, integration and synergy realisation
  • Ensure strong financial governance, compliance, controls and risk management across all entities
  • Partner with operational leaders and the Executive Team to provide commercial insight and improve business performance

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or Accounting (or equivalent professional experience), with CA/CPA preferred
  • Proven experience leading finance functions within complex, multi-entity organisations, with 5+ years’ finance leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a comparable multi-entity environment
  • Exposure in Mergers and Acquisitions, private equity, investor-backed or acquisition-led growth environments, supporting transactions, integration and value creation
  • Experience in project or contract-based environments, including WIP accounting, job costing and milestone-based revenue recognition
  • Track record of implementing or optimising ERP/financial systems (e.g. MYOB Advanced, NetSuite, Wiise, Microsoft Dynamics) within multi-entity or scalable environments
  • Strong capability in managing cash flow, working capital and overall financial performance in variable, project-driven businesses
  • Solid understanding of Australian taxation, regulatory and governance frameworks
  • Hands on leader with a strong track record in driving performance, safety, compliance and accountability across teams and operations

What We Offer:

  • Executive position within a rapidly expanding, acquisition focused organisation
  • Opportunity to design and embed the financial systems for a scaling national group
  • Strong backing from experienced Board and commercial leadership team
  • Genuine opportunity to build a legacy finance
function in a growing industrial group
