Lead one of Australia's most respected investment institutions

The Future Fund is Australia's sovereign wealth fund. Managing more than $355 billion on behalf of the Australian Government, we are one of the world's leading sovereign investment institutions.

Our purpose is to invest for the benefit of all Australians. Through disciplined long-term investing, we deliver on public investment mandates while helping strengthen Australia's long-term financial position.

Central to our success is a Total Portfolio Approach to investing, which brings a whole-of-portfolio perspective to decision-making and underpins the way we pursue long-term investment outcomes.

Globally respected for our investment capability and distinctive culture, we bring together exceptional people, rigorous thinking and a long-term perspective.

We are seeking an outstanding leader to become our next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a unique opportunity to lead an institution of national significance and help shape its next chapter in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading the organisation and ensuring it remains a high-performing, globally respected sovereign investment institution. The CEO serves as the primary interface between the Board, Government stakeholders, regulators and the organisation, providing trusted leadership and advice in support of the Future Fund's purpose and mandates.

Working in close partnership with the Chief Investment Officer, the CEO will help ensure the organisation's investment capabilities, governance frameworks, operating model and culture continue to support exceptional long-term investment outcomes.

The CEO will guide the organisation through an increasingly complex and evolving environment, ensuring the Future Fund remains adaptive, innovative and well positioned to respond to shifts in technology, geopolitics, financial markets and the broader operating landscape.

Key responsibilities

As Chief Executive Officer, you will:

  • Lead the development and execution of the Future Fund's strategic direction.

  • Foster a high-performance culture aligned with the organisation's purpose, values and long-term objectives.

  • Lead and develop the senior leadership team and strengthen organisational capability.

  • Champion a culture that combines high performance with collaboration, accountability and inclusion.

  • Ensure the Future Fund continues to attract, develop and retain exceptional investment and corporate talent.

  • Aid and work collaboratively with the CIO to support investment excellence and effective implementation of investment strategy.

  • Maintain strong governance, risk and accountability frameworks.

  • Build trusted relationships with the Board, Government stakeholders and regulators.

  • Drive organisational effectiveness, innovation and continuous improvement

About You

  • You are an exceptionally accomplished senior executive with a track record of leading complex, high-performing organisations.

  • You combine strategic judgement with strong operational leadership and are recognised for your ability to lead through complexity and change. You build credibility quickly with Boards and senior stakeholders and have the communication skills, judgement and presence to represent an organisation of national significance.

  • You are known for developing exceptional teams and creating environments where talented people can perform at their best.

  • Experience in investment management, treasury, financial services, sovereign wealth, superannuation, funds management or similarly complex environments.

  • Most importantly, you will bring a commitment to public purpose, long-term stewardship and organisational excellence.

Why the Future Fund

This is a rare opportunity to lead a globally respected institution with a distinctive mandate and culture, working alongside some of Australia's most accomplished investment and corporate leaders.

You will have the opportunity to influence outcomes that matter to all Australians while shaping the next chapter of one of the country's most significant investment organisations.
