Job Description


The Chief Engineer – Projects is a project management-heavy leadership role engineered to orchestrate the comprehensive, multi-phase re-positioning and enhancement works of the iconic JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai. Responsible to manage all aspects of project management daily, to ensure that hotel facilities and systems operate properly. Project guardian who understands luxury across 1608 guest rooms and suites, premium executive lounges, signature dining venues and high-traffic public areas. Directs the project team to cover inspections, evaluations, asset management and physical condition of all work areas being occupied by contractors and consultants. Actively supports the Director of Engineering in efforts to improve the quality of project delivery, as well as guest and employee satisfaction.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 8-years’ experience in Projects with a minimum of 3 years in the UAE.
  • Degree or Higher Diploma in Project Management / Civil engineering/ Technical Field

  • Overlook contract documents and review them.

  • Excellent administrative skills

  • Rigorous engineering standards to coordinate MEP, Civil engineering, HVAC and asset lifecycle management.
  • Strong design management with capabilities in spatial planning, material selection and aesthetic quality control.
  • Guardian of the project design incorporating commercial stewardship, contractual oversite and risk mitigation.
  • Understands and coordinates government approvals as well as Fire Life and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Drives and executes projects identifying potential bottlenecks in logistics and operational activities before they become an issue

Maintaining Engineering Standards

  • Helps ensure necessary permits and licenses for building and physical plant are obtained and kept current
  • Helps ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards
  • Ensures compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards and procedures.
  • Ensures all employees have the proper supplies, equipment, uniforms and PPE.
