🔎 About the Role

As Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations in Riu Jambo Zanzibar. You will lead a team of professionals to ensure that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate efficiently while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

💼 What You’ll Do

• Supervise and coordinate all maintenance operations, ensuring efficiency and reliability of equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend asset lifespan.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and RIU Hotels & Resorts standards.
• Manage the engineering team, providing leadership, training, and support.
• Oversee energy management strategies to optimize consumption and reduce costs.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
• Prepare reports, budgets, and maintenance plans for short- and long-term projects.
• Coordinate with external contractors for repairs, renovations, and inspections.
• Ensure all health and safety protocols are met to provide a safe environment for guests and staff.

✔️ What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
• Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or senior maintenance role in the hospitality industry.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
• Experience with energy efficiency strategies and sustainability practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.
• Ability to lead a team, problem-solve, and work under pressure.
• Spoken and written English.
