Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Electrician to join our organisation at Constance Prince Maurice, Mauritius. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all electrical systems, maintenance operations, ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our electrical infrastructure. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the work of electricians and electrical technicians.
• Plan and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems.
• Diagnose electrical faults and perform repairs on electrical equipment and installations.
• Inspect electrical installations, wiring, switchboards, motors, generators, lighting, and control systems.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards, electrical codes, and company procedures.
• Monitor electrical equipment performance and identify potential failures before they occur.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and equipment history.
• Coordinate electrical maintenance activities with other engineering and operational departments.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Manage electrical spare parts, tools, and materials and recommend replacements when required.
• Assist with electrical installation, modification, and commissioning projects.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and equipment breakdowns.
• Train, guide, and evaluate electricians and junior electrical staff.
• Liaise with contractors and external service providers when specialized electrical work is required.
• Prepare maintenance reports and provide recommendations to management regarding electrical systems and equipment.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma, certificate, or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experiences as chief electrician or any other relevant experiences.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial equipment, and electrical safety.
• Experience with generators, motors, distribution panels, control systems, and troubleshooting is an advantage.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
