Reporting to the Director or Manager of Medical Physics, the Chief Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for daily planning, organizing and supervision of assigned operational aspects of the Dosimetry team within the Medical Physics Department. The Chief Medical Dosimetrist serves as point of contact for interdepartmental and extra-departmental issues pertaining to Dosimetry. The Chief Medical Dosimetrist monitors compliance with radiation therapy practice standards to ensure that high quality, safe treatment plans are accurately produced and administered to cancer patients requiring radiation therapy. The Chief Medical Dosimetrist ensures the work environment enables and supports excellence in dosimetry and promotes high quality work life and safety for Medical Dosimetrists. This position works directly with the Chief Medical Dosimetrist of the second site to ensure provincial standardization. The Chief Medical Dosimetrist assumes the responsibilities of the Medical Dosimetrist when required. The Chief Medical Dosimetrist has knowledge of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of radiation oncology in the management of cancer or other disease processes, with special expertise in radiation therapy treatment planning.
