Job Description
The Docking Organization ins looking for a proven leader to drive operational excellence on the Electric Boat waterfront.
The Docking Organization is a small team of technicians, supervisors, engineers, analysts and coordinators that maintain a certified waterfront and operate the equipment to perform high risk evolutions that support the US Navy.
The candidate will, at a minimum, have the following responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the following Electric Boat (EB) assets:
- Graving Docks (GD) 1, 2, 3
- GD3 launch platform
- Sea Shuttle
- Responsible for the direct supervision of 7 personnel in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the drydocks and floating assets including safety, procedural compliance and training essential to maintaining facility.
- Coach and lead a group of Docking Engineers, Operations Analyst, and Port Ops Coordinator to maintain dock readiness, waterfront coordination, and department material and equipment critical spares.
- Work closely with the department General Forman to perform daily tasks.
- Oversee the docking and undocking evolution, to include liaising with various levels of management within the organization to obtain requisite support for each evolution and the layday period.
- Willingness to pursue qualification/re-qualification as a Facility Operations Supervisor (FOS / Dockmaster) per MIL-STD-1625.
- Must gain sufficient level of knowledge of all dry-dock systems to support the training and qualification program as well as changes and approval of operating procedures.
- Must have knowledge and experience with MIL-STD-1625 and Naval Ship's Technical Manual Chapter 997.
- Capable of liaising with all levels of management and US Navy personnel, e.g. Ship's Commanding Officers, Supervisor of Shipbuilding & Overhaul Groton (SSGR), Naval Sea Systems Command(NAVSEA), and Naval Reactors.
- Submit required periodic (situational, monthly and annual) reports; submit changes to and/or updates to dry-dock operating procedures to NAVSEA via SSGR for review and approval.
- Ensure all dry-dock operations are in compliance with both EB, CT State and Federal environmental regulations.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4+ years of drydock experience OR 4+ years of Engineering supervisory experience
Preferred:
- Completion of NAVSEA Drydock Training Course and Exam
- Has strong knowledge of MIL-STD-1625D and NSTM CH-997
- Has an Active Secret clearance OR has held one within the last 10 years
- Engineering experience
