Chief Business Officer (CBO)

Location: Cape Town

Our client, a Cape Town based business operating in the fintech space, is focused on changing how people access and experience financial services. With ambitious growth plans ahead, they are appointing key members of their executive leadership team.

They are recruiting for four C suite roles:

• Chief Marketing Officer (CMO): to lead the brand and drive customer acquisition and growth
• Chief Operating Officer (COO): to design and scale the operations that power the business
• Chief Business Officer (CBO): to lead commercial growth, partnerships and revenue
• Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTO/CTIO): to lead the technology, platform, data and cybersecurity strategy

The role: Chief Business Officer

As Chief Business Officer, you will lead commercial growth and build the partnerships that fuel the company's expansion, using AI and data to uncover new opportunities and revenue streams.

What you'll be doing

• Defining and driving the commercial and growth strategy of the business
• Identifying, negotiating and managing strategic partnerships across retail, banking and technology
• Owning revenue targets and building new revenue streams
• Leading business development and sales, including new markets and customer segments
• Using AI and data insights to identify growth opportunities, sharpen sales performance and inform commercial decisions
• Working closely with product and marketing to bring new offerings, including AI enabled solutions, to market
• Building strong relationships with investors, partners and key stakeholders
• Building and leading a high performing commercial team

What you'll bring

• A degree in Business, Commerce or Finance; an MBA will be advantageous
• 15+ years of commercial or business development experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership or executive role
• A strong network and track record of closing strategic partnerships in fintech, financial services or related industries
• Proven success delivering revenue growth
• A clear understanding of how AI can create commercial value and new revenue opportunities
• Strong negotiation, commercial and financial acumen
• The ability to be both strategic and hands on in a fast paced environment
