Job Description

Chief Architect – Java / Cloud / Microservices

Location: Brussels, Belgium
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 6 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Experience: 8–10 years

We are looking for an experienced Chief Architect to define end-to-end solution architecture for enterprise applications and provide technical leadership across development teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving architectural decisions, establishing technical standards, guiding development teams, and collaborating with stakeholders to support effective project planning and Agile delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead end-to-end solution architecture for enterprise applications.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on technical estimations and project planning.
  • Establish coding standards, architectural principles, and development best practices.
  • Lead and mentor developers and technical teams.
  • Support Agile delivery and ensure alignment between architecture and business requirements.
  • Drive technical decisions across application, cloud, database, and DevOps environments.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Promote modern development practices, automation, and continuous delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8–10 years of relevant architecture and software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot
  • Extensive experience with Microservices architecture
  • Proven experience defining solution architecture for enterprise applications.
  • Experience leading and mentoring development teams.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with database technologies such as Oracle and PostgreSQL
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture.
  • Excellent technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Agile environments

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in Banking or Financial Services
  • TOGAF, AWS Architect, or Azure Architect certification.
  • Knowledge of Open Banking APIs
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
  • Performance engineering experience.
  • Security and IAM integration experience.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and enterprise DevOps practices.
