Job Title: Chief Accountant

The Chief Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining financial controls, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. The role involves supervising the monthly closing process, managing reconciliations, preparing MIS reports, coordinating with auditors, and ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the monthly financial closing process, including reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Ensure all accounting transactions are recorded accurately, processed on time, and within approved authorization limits.
• Verify that financial transactions are correctly entered into the accounting system.
• Ensure supplier and customer invoices are prepared on time and properly reconciled.
• Monitor student activity-related accounting and ensure expenditures remain within approved budgets.
• Reconcile bank balances regularly with bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare MIS reports and provide financial data as required by different departments.
• Address and respond to audit queries and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
• Ensure timely compliance with statutory requirements such as GST, PF, TDS, and other applicable regulations.
• Prepare year-end financial statements and support the annual audit process.
• Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by senior management.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
• Ability to manage financial processes, maintain accuracy in records, and ensure adherence to internal controls.

Educational Qualification:

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

Professional Certifications:

• Relevant professional certifications in accounting, taxation, or finance will be an added advantage.

Professional Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in general accounting and tax compliance.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of punctuality, reliability, and professional integrity.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
