Job Purpose: Responsible for performing tests on raw materials, intermediate process stream and final product samples according to schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs. Calibration of instruments and primary troubleshooting of instruments. Maintain documentation as per RIMS and NABL requirements

Quality Assurance

  • Follow safety practices and work instructions as per requirement.
  • Perform testing in accordance to standard test methods like ASTM, UOP, IP, BIS, APHA, etc
  • Get thorough knowledge of test schedules of PRU and other concerned refinery units also independent handling of PRU testing instruments.
  • Calibration of instruments, preparation of solutions and their standardization. Testing of quality check / reference samples.
  • Primary troubleshooting of analytical instruments under the guidance of his supervisor.
  • Analysis of special/unscheduled samples as per TS/Operation/EPS requirements.
  • Highlighting abnormalities with respect to products/intermediates samples for deviations from specifications.
  • Conduct changeover of gas cylinders and monitor pressure and ensure no leakage in the system

System Management

  • Independently handling PRU Lab instruments and training to subordinates.
  • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of lab instruments.
  • Maintain documentation as per RIMS and NABL requirements

Planning & Budgeting

  • Planning of analysis sequence as per priority
  • Pre-preparedness for operation critical instruments.
  • Proper usage of analytical resources, minimum wear and tear of spares/consumables and glassware breakages.
  • Reporting of replacement of spares / consumables to immediate supervisor.

Compliance & System Management

  • Follow systems and procedures as per RIMS and NABL.
  • Support to achieve the dept objectives and targets.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement of systems.
  • Timely & accurate analysis and reporting of results.
  • Ensure timely highlighting of abnormality/product failure.

OHSMS, Energy & Environmental Management

  • Ensure working with all PPE's as per HSEF policy & procedures at work location & accident-free working.
  • Maintain and enhance safety Standards to ensure Zero LTI.
  • Ensure housekeeping of Laboratory Area including gas cylinder house and sample retention area.
  • Report near miss, highlight unsafe act/conditions.
  • Awareness about Environmental Management and Energy Management System.

Educational Qualification & Experience :

B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry with strong knowledge of petroleum refinery lab operations

5-6 years in refinery laboratory operations
