Job Description

Imagine engineering the sophisticated fluid, gas, and chemical delivery systems that form the lifeblood of the world's most advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities and leading the team that makes it happen. At SSOE, you won't just be executing tasks; you'll continuously expand your expertise by confronting diverse and complex process engineering challenges unique to the semiconductor and advanced high-tech industrial sectors, while simultaneously guiding the culture, growth, and operational excellence of your office. You'll be supported by access to advanced training, leading design and analysis tools including hydraulic modeling and pipe stress software, and a collaborative multidisciplinary culture. We foster your ambition with clear pathways for career progression, whether your aspiration is technical leadership, project management, becoming a revered subject matter expert in high-purity process systems, or growing as a regional leader. This role places you at the heart of a truly integrated team environment that champions knowledge sharing, innovation, and technical excellence, backed by the stability and proven delivery of a well-established firm.

We are seeking a skilled Process Designer to join our integrated design-build team, supporting the delivery of advanced technology, semiconductor, cleanroom, and mission-critical facilities. This role is well-suited for a designer who has developed a solid foundation in process system design and is ready to take on greater responsibility in complex, high-performance environments. In this position, you will contribute to the design and execution of critical process systems that support cutting-edge manufacturing and operational performance. You will work closely with senior designers, engineers and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, efficient, and reliable engineering solutions while continuing to grow your technical expertise.

At SSOE, we don’t just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you’ll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Produce comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, P&ID's, and models aligning with project requirements and client expectations.
  • Lead the development of detailed P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and isometric piping drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with ASME B31.3 and company CAD standards.
  • Utilize process flow calculations and PIPE-FLO (or equivalent) tools as needed to verify hydraulic performance and material selection suitability within piping systems.
  • Apply established design techniques, exercising judgment to adapt and modify design concepts while ensuring compliance with company and team CAD standards for quality control.
  • Collaborate closely with process engineers, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines to develop integrated design solutions on industrial, chemical, and manufacturing projects.
  • Facilitate seamless coordination among various design disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Architectural, etc.) to fulfill design package requirements.
  • Will work with other Designers, Sr. Engineers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders on specific assigned objectives, complex features, and aid in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
  • Conduct field verifications and site assessments to identify, verify, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages, troubleshooting design issues during construction as necessary.
  • Support project managers and mechanical engineers in managing scope, schedule, and cost through accurate work package deliverable timelines, submittal tracking, and RFI responses.
  • Mentor and train junior mechanical designers on drafting standards, calculation techniques, and software tool use, fostering a continuous improvement mindset within the design team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. An Associate degree in engineering or architectural fields is a plus.
  • Proficiency working with AutoCAD is required. Experience with other tools, such as Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO, or other similar tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 process piping design code and familiarity with NFPA standards related to chemical safety systems.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including project managers, engineers, architects, and trades to deliver technically accurate and constructible designs.
  • Hands-on experience using PIPE-FLO or similar hydraulic simulation software to validate process fluid flow and sizing.
  • Strong communication skills enabling effective collaboration and clear client interaction during design reviews and RFIs.

Compensation & Benefits:

SSOE offers a competitive total compensation package designed to support and empower our employees and their families.

  • Salary $90,000 – $125,000 per year, commensurate with location, education, and depth of experience.
