About
The Chemical Operator is responsible for manufacturing chemical intermediates and finished products by following established procedures, batch records, and work instructions. This role involves operating chemical processes as well as performing equipment setup, cleaning, waste handling, warehouse support, maintenance, emergency response, and general housekeeping activities to support safe and efficient operations. The Operator maintains compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements while accurately completing required documentation. Employees receive extensive safety and process-specific training before independently performing production duties.
Following training, Operators work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule with alternating days off and transition between day and night shifts every 12 weeks. The position requires overtime, weekend, and holiday work according to the published shift schedule, with shift differential pay provided for night shift assignments.
Essential Functions
- Forklift Certification – training provided after hire by BSC
- Operator Introductory Training – training provided after hire by BSC
- Properly wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, fire-resistant clothing, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and other equipment as required
- Follows established procedures as described by Batch Records, GEN’s and Work Instructions and OPI’s to manufacture chemical intermediates and finished products
- Follows established procedures as described by SOP’s and other operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment that complies with safety and environmental rules and regulations
- Transfers raw materials, finished products, wastewater, waste solvents, and other wastes between tanks, drums, and shipping containers using pumps, pressure and other equipment; handles solid chemicals as chemical intermediates, products and waste
- Labels hazardous waste containers as appropriate to maintain compliance with labeling regulations and times
- Maintains records necessary to record process conditions as defined by procedures and as required in certain circumstances
- Maintains the production area(s) in a clean and orderly condition
- Performs yard and building cleanup as needed
- Performs shipping, packaging and receiving activities as needed
- Assists the Production Supervisor in record keeping with daily shift report, inventory sheets, tanker logs, and other documentation
- Uses company computer/handheld devices to enter records and documents
- Attends training as designated to facilitate above knowledge and to maintain required updates
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to successfully complete respirator medical evaluations, fit testing, and training as required by OSHA and company procedures and wear respiratory protection as required (BSC provides the training)
- Participates in emergency response, spill response, evacuation, and incident mitigation activities consistent with assigned responsibilities and training
- Handles drums, buckets, and other containers of hazardous and non-hazardous materials as products or waste.  Some but not all of these activities include:
- - Combine partial drums to ensure all waste drums are 90% full for shipping
- - Handles (scooping, shoveling, bucketing) waste as needed
- - Repackages wastes for shipment to drum disposal facilities
- - Cleans drums for shipment to drum disposal facilities
- - Pumps waste to tankers as needed

QualificationsMinimum

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Must pass a basic math and reading assessment
- Prefer experience in construction, manufacturing, or oil & gas industries
- Prefer experience working 12-hours and graveyard shifts
- Prefer experience in a job that is indoor/outdoor and requires physical labor
- Entry-level chemical production experience is helpful
- Must be able to successfully complete a post-offer, job-related medical evaluation consistent with business necessities and applicable law

Work Environment
- Frequent outdoor work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time
- Regular standing and walking required
- Work in areas requiring personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator
- Noise
- PPE is provided to protect you from exposure to:
- - Fumes and airborne particles
- - Toxic or caustic chemicals
- Physical requirements:
- - Regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs
- - Frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs
- - Occasionally push/move up to 100 lbs
- - Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights while wearing required PPE
Job Location
- Position may be assigned to and/or required to work at either the Mead or Longmont facility based on operational needs.
Pay
- Pay: $25.00 per hour, plus participation in the Company Bonus Plan
- Night Shift Differential: $4.00 per hour
