We are currently recruiting for a Chemical Engineer - Methane Emissions to join our office in Genoa, Rome or Milan - Italy within the Environmental and Engineering Geoscience Division.​

Mission

The Environmental Consultant focuses on assessing and mitigating environmental methane emissions. They conduct environmental monitoring in oil&gas facilities (in italy and worldwide) and make quantification assessment of overall emissions, in compliance with new European regulations on methane emissions or vouluntary agreenment standards OGMP 2.0.

Key Accountabilities

Conduct Methane Emissions Assessments and Quantification Studies:

-Conduct comprehensive methane emissions assessments for oil & gas, LNG, midstream, downstream assets;

-Identify solid approach to quantify methane emissions using engineering calculations, emissions factors, direct measurements and advanced monitoring technologies;

-Assessment on P&ID of methane emission sources across facilities, including fugitive, vented and combustion-related emissions;

-Support operators in establishing methane baselines and emissions inventories in alignment with EU Methane Regulation and/or OGMP 2.0.

Support Compliance with EU Methane Regulation and OGMP 2.0:

  • Provide technical and strategic support to ensure compliance with the European Union Methane Regulation and related implementing requirements;
  • Perform gap analyses against EU Methane Regulation and OGMP 2.0;
  • Develop compliance roadmaps and implementation plans to support operators in meeting monitoring, reporting and reductions obligations.

Methane Monitoring, Measurement and Verification:

  • Design and implement methane monitoring programs using a combination of bottom-up and measurement-based approaches;
  • Support Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program development, implementation and optimization;
  • Evaluate and integrate advanced methane detection technologies, including OGI cameras, continuous monitoring systems, drones, etc;
  • Review monitoring results and verification activities to improve data accuracy and reporting confidence.

Data Analysis, Modelling and Reporting:

  • Analyze methane emissions datasets and monitoring results to identify trends, anomalies and improvement opportunities;
  • Utilize modelling and analytical tools to estimate emissions and evaluate reduction scenarios;
  • Prepare technical reports, emissions inventories, compliance documentation and management summaries for operators;
  • Support independent verification and assurance processes related to methane emissions reporting.

Site Visits and Field Assessments:

  • Conduct site visits, operational reviews and methane screening campaigns at oil & gas and energy facilities;
  • Assess the effectiveness of existing methane monitoring and mitigation measures;
  • Verify implementation of LDAR programs or measurements survey for regulatory compliance requirements.

Project Management Support:

  • Support the management and delivery of methane-related consulting projects;
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful identification of emissions reduction programs;
  • Monitor project schedules, efforts, deliverables and key performance indicators related to methane management initiatives. #LI-MT3

Education

Bachelor’s Degree

Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering

Qualifications

  • Interest on in the oil & gas, energy, chemical, petrochemical or industrial sectors;
  • Base understanding of industrial processes and plant operations, including production, treatment, storage and transport systems;
  • Ability to interpret and review engineering documentation, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mass balances and equipment datasheets;
  • Understanding of potential emission sources within industrial facilities, including fugitive emissions, vents, combustion systems and process equipment;
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to collect, validate and interpret technical and operational data;
  • Interest on new EU Methane Regulation and OGMP 2.0 and in general in methane emissions management and reduction.
