Salary Range

$19.91-$25.38

Performs skilled chemical spraying work at the various parks within the City of Orlando. Responsible for evaluating spraying requirements for insect and disease control, selecting proper herbicides, and applying chemicals following approved techniques to maintain an effective control of undesirable vegetation and to prevent damage to adjacent vegetation. Performs normal maintenance functions related to the overall preservation of park facilities and grounds. Work is performed under the supervision of a licensed crew leader or technical supervisor. Work is evaluated through observation of the results obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years of experience in turf or woody ornamental maintenance involving chemical application depending on the area of assignment required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Florida Public Applicator's Restricted Pesticide License (RUP) with Ornamental and Turf Endorsements required at time of hire. Limited Lawn and Ornamental (LLO) & Florida Right-Of-Way Pesticide License’s required within 6 months of employment.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:

  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
