Job Description

Holden Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our Dietary Services team on the 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM shift. The Chef plays a vital role in preparing nutritious, appealing meals that support the health and well-being of our residents while ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

Schedule: Full-Time, 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM

Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and standardized recipes.
  • Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and served in a safe, sanitary manner.
  • Prepare therapeutic and specialty diets according to resident care plans.
  • Collaborate with the Food Service Director, Food Service Supervisor, and Dietitian to meet residents' nutritional needs.
  • Meet all scheduled meal service times and maintain high-quality food presentation.
  • Supervise and direct Dietary Aides in kitchen and dining room operations.
  • Monitor food service equipment and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Utilize computer systems, including Meal Tracker, as required.
  • Assist with receiving and stocking food and supply deliveries.
  • Attend required training and in-service programs.
  • Work cooperatively with dietary staff and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Maintain regular attendance and dependability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of institutional, healthcare, or large-scale food service cooking experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to work independently and lead team members in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • ServSafe Certification.
  • Experience working in a long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with residents, families, and staff.
  • Sound judgment in meal preparation, seasoning, and estimating food needs.
  • Ability to maintain assigned work schedules and perform physical duties throughout the shift.
  • Commitment to resident satisfaction, food quality, and safety standards.
