As a Chef de Partie, you'll take ownership of a designated kitchen section and help deliver high-quality food across patient dining, staff catering, private dining, hospitality services, and events. Working within a hospital environment, you'll combine culinary expertise with a passion for service, ensuring every meal is safe, nutritious, and presented to the highest standard.
How you'll help us make health happen
Run your designated kitchen section during preparation and service, maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation standards.
Prepare, cook, and present dishes across patient meals, staff dining, hospitality, private dining, meetings, and events.
Support the delivery of services across multiple food outlets, adapting to varying service requirements and volumes.
Ensure excellent mise en place, portion control, stock rotation, and waste management within your section.
Work alongside senior chefs to develop specials, seasonal menus, and continuous improvements to food offerings.
Prepare meals that meet a variety of dietary, medical, cultural, religious, and lifestyle requirements.
Maintain high standards of food presentation, ensuring dishes are produced consistently and accurately.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, hospitality teams, and ward teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
Support, mentor, and guide Commis Chefs and Kitchen Porters within your section.
Complete all opening and closing duties, cleaning schedules, and handovers.
Follow all food safety, allergen management, infection prevention, and health & safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, colleagues, and visitors.
Key Skills / Qualifications
Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or an experienced Demi Chef de Partie looking to progress.
Proven ability to manage a kitchen section independently in a fast-paced, high-quality environment.
Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP principles, allergen management, and health & safety requirements.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure.
Strong knowledge of stock management, food storage, portion control, and waste reduction.
Skilled in a range of cooking techniques with a keen eye for detail and presentation.
Ability to follow recipes, specifications, and contribute to menu development.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Comfortable completing food safety documentation and kitchen records accurately.
Flexible approach to working hours to meet operational requirements.
Desirable:
Experience within healthcare, hospitality, hotel, or other highly regulated environments.
Level 2 Food Safety qualification or equivalent.
Experience delivering fine dining, hospitality services, or banqueting/events.
Experience supporting audits, compliance checks, and kitchen quality standards.
Previous experience mentoring or training junior kitchen team members
