Job Description

Position Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and nutrition-focused Family Chef to oversee culinary operations across multiple family residences. This role is responsible for menu planning, food inventory management, meal preparation, farm-to-table sourcing, nutrition support, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sustainability.

The ideal candidate is passionate about healthy, seasonal cooking and possesses experience accommodating diverse dietary needs and preferences. This individual will serve as a trusted culinary professional who can seamlessly support the family across multiple homes and travel locations while promoting wellness, minimizing waste, and maximizing the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Key Responsibilities:

Culinary Planning & Meal Preparation

• Prepare meals, snacks, entertaining menus, and special occasion dining experiences for family members and guests.
• Develop meal plans aligned with individual nutritional goals, health requirements, and dietary preferences.
• Prepare meals in advance and coordinate weekly meal prep programs to ensure convenience and consistency across residences.
• Accommodate a wide range of dietary restrictions and preferences, including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, ketogenic, allergen-sensitive, and medically prescribed diets.
• Adapt menus and meal service to changing multi-generational family schedules, travel plans, and household needs.

Multi-Residence Culinary & Hospitality Support

• Manage culinary operations across multiple family homes, ensuring a consistent level of service, quality, and organization at each residence.
• Travel regularly with the family between residences and destinations as needed.
• Coordinate kitchen setup, provisioning, and meal service at seasonal homes, vacation properties, and temporary residences.
• Ensure all residences are appropriately stocked and prepared in advance of family arrivals.
• Collaborate with household staff to align meal planning with family schedules and events.
• Provide on-site culinary support during family gatherings, holidays, celebrations, and extended travel.

Food Inventory Management

• Manage food inventories across multiple family homes and properties.
• Monitor stock levels, expiration dates, and purchasing needs.
• Conduct routine audits of pantries, refrigerators, freezers, wine storage, and specialty food inventories.
• Coordinate procurement and replenishment of ingredients, pantry staples, and household food supplies.
• Establish standardized inventory procedures to ensure consistency across all residences.
• Minimize food waste inventory rotation, storage, and utilization planning.

Farm-to-Table Program Management

• Source premium seasonal ingredients while prioritizing sustainable, local, and organic products whenever possible.
• Coordinate harvesting schedules and ingredient utilization from family farms, gardens, orchards, and greenhouses.
• Develop menus that reflect seasonal availability and maximize the use of homegrown products.
• Evaluate supplier quality, pricing, and product consistency to ensure exceptional standards.

Nutrition & Wellness

• Apply evidence-based nutrition principles to all menu planning and meal preparation.
• Collaborate with family members
• Modify recipes and meal plans to support health goals, food sensitivities, allergies, and medical conditions.
• Educate family members about nutrition, ingredient sourcing, and healthy eating habits when requested.

Food Preservation & Conservation

• Develop and manage food preservation programs, including canning, fermenting, dehydrating, freezing, pickling, and vacuum sealing.
• Preserve seasonal harvests and maximize ingredients sourced from local farms and family properties.
• Implement sustainable kitchen practices that reduce waste and promote responsible consumption.
• Creatively repurpose ingredients and leftovers while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
• Monitor proper storage methods to maximize freshness, shelf life, and product quality.

Kitchen Operations

• Maintain kitchen organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with all food handling, sanitation, and storage regulations.
• Manage kitchen budgets and track food-related expenditures.
• Oversee vendor relationships, purchasing activities, and equipment maintenance.

Job Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a Private Chef, Estate Chef, Family Chef, Executive Chef, or similar role.
• Demonstrated experience supporting high-net-worth families, private households, estates, or family office environments.
• Experience managing food inventories across multiple residences or hospitality operations.
• Extensive knowledge of nutrition, specialized diets, food allergies, and wellness-focused meal planning.
• Experience implementing farm-to-table sourcing programs and seasonal menu development.
• Proven expertise in food preservation, conservation, inventory rotation, and waste reduction.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently with the family, including extended stays at out-of-state residences and vacation properties.
• Strong organizational, logistical, and planning skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Exceptional discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Salary Range: $66,000 - $96,000

*The base salary range represents the low and high end of the expected salary range for the position. The base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors such as geographic location, experience, education, and skill level.
