Your role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital

Fixed-Term Contract until December 2028 | Full-Time | 38 Hours per Week | Rotating 7 Day Roster

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our Catering Services team in Ballarat. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality food services that support the wellbeing of our patients and caregivers within a caring and supportive environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation, cooking and serving, and delivery of meals in accordance with Room Service menus, production schedules, and food safety standards. You will ensure all food is prepared using standardised recipes approved by the Catering Department and Dietitian, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and hygiene.

Your skills and experience

Successful applicants must hold a Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification as a Chef, completion of Basic & Advanced Food Handling Courses to meet food safety requirements and previous experience in preparing and cooking food in accordance with production schedules and Food Safety Program. Preferred experience with Al-carte service.

We can offer you

  • Salary: $64,948 to $66,730 per annum (pro rata for part time) plus 12% Superannuation
  • Full-time opportunity (38 hours per week) on a fixed-term contract until December 2028

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
