About the position

Councils Arts & Culture Department is looking for a Chef to be engaged in a casual capacity. This position will be part of our Hospitality Team and will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of high-quality dishes.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Head Chef with food preparation elements in a manner that ensures a high standard of delivery to all Frankston Arts Centre clients, patrons, staff and wider council – including servicing Council Chambers; and
  • Assisting the Head Chef in maintaining a provision of high-quality culinary services with a keen gastronomic acumen and possess a well-rounded knowledge of the food industry, including staff training, kitchen hygiene and food-safety plan.

This is a casual role. Working days are flexible and as per roster.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Work under the direction of the Head Chef, assisting with food preparation in all areas of the kitchen following standard recipes and correct techniques.
  • Be experienced in high volume commercial catering with demonstrate competency in all aspects commercial cookery.
  • Possess relevant industry training / Chef Qualifications - Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum) and Food Handling Certificate.
  • Be able to work in a fast paced and hands on environment; and
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of food safety practices, HACCP and OHS.

This position is a Band 5A currently remunerated at $52.23 per hour, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
