Job Description

The Cheese Back Up oversees the Cheese department in the absence of the Cheese Specialist. They provide excellent, professional customer service within the Cheese department while cutting and wrapping, merchandising, ordering and keeping track of inventory. They demonstrate knowledge of cheese varieties and wrapping and handling procedures.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent, professional customer service
  • Works with the Cheese Specialist to prepare, package and merchandise cheese products
  • Fulfills designated ordering responsibilities
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cheese varieties and families, specialty foods, and deli prepared foods
  • Provides deli counter service when needed
  • Follows department cheese wrapping and handling procedures
  • Ensures department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met
  • Follows department safe food handling procedures
  • Follows department merchandising standards and procedures

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service
  • Available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends
  • Familiarity with cheese varieties preferred
  • Familiarity with specialty and prepared foods
  • Excellent communication, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion and lifting 10-40lbs regularly
  • A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
