Beverly YMCA | Part-Time
The Beverly YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Cheer Coach who is passionate about working with youth and committed to the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
The Cheer Coach is responsible for leading safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate cheer instruction for youth participants. This role creates a positive and inclusive team environment where athletes build skills, confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of movement.
🗓 Schedule:
- Weekdays
- Sundays
- Some weekends are required for competitions
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Youth Development
- Provide engaging cheerleading instruction focused on skill development, teamwork, and confidence-building
- Adapt instruction to meet individual athlete needs and varying skill levels
- Assist with the planning and implementation of cheer programs, practices, and events
- Ensure all programming aligns with YMCA values and standards
Safety & Emergency Response
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants
- Assist with basic facility care and equipment organization
- Respond to emergencies by following YMCA First Aid and Emergency Action protocols
Relationship Building
- Build positive relationships with cheerleaders, families, and YMCA staff
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive team culture where all participants feel supported and encouraged
Communication
- Communicate clearly, promptly, and professionally with participants and families
- Address questions, concerns, and feedback in a respectful and solution-focused manner

Qualifications

Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must maintain CPR and First Aid certifications
- Must demonstrate the ability to correctly perform cheer skills appropriate to the levels being taught

- Ability to demonstrate cheer skills and actively support physical activity during practices
- Ability to walk, stand, kneel, bend, and lift to 40 pounds
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the program schedule
- Ability to navigate uneven gym floor surfaces safely
- Must be able to act physically and mentally appropriate and immediately in unexpected circumstances
