Job Description

Position: Check and Connect Program Specialist
Location: North High School
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, 190 days
Start Date: Fall 2026
Pay: $59,580
Benefits: Single contribution Health, Dental, vision, 403b matching

This position supports the Check & Connect Program by providing positive behavior interventions and maintains a caseload of students. The incumbent will work with individual students and their families, school staff, and community service providers to implement strategies and interventions that address school success and school completion for students in need of support to graduate. Including tracking students' level of engagement, document results, and complete monthly forms and a contact log as a tool to assess student improvements in regards to the following: absences, truancies, suspensions, and grades/credits earned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Experience working in the school setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of behavior interventions and support.
  • Ability to collaborate with community agencies to provide services to students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written format.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Licensed in a MN related license service area (i.e. school social work, school psychologist, guidance counselor)
  • Ability to understand, use and share data related to practices and progress monitoring
  • Knowledge of targeted and individual behavior support
  • Ability to design and deliver training on School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Computer proficiency
  • Multi-age and multi-culture experience

Responsibilities:

  • Work with caseloads of students and families, functioning as liaisons between home and school, and striving to build constructive family-school relationships
  • Data collection in building: including regular checks on students' attendance, grades and behavior
  • Reteach and provide behavior interventions to students, communicate regularly with families, and initiate efforts to keep students engaged in school
  • Provide timely, personalized, data-based interventions determined by the solutions team designed to provide support tailored to individual student needs, based on the student's level of engagement with school ("check" data), associated influences of home and school, and leveraging of local resources
  • Reteach expectations that are taught, reinforced, and monitored at the school-wide level.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop intervention strategies to reduce barriers to school success
