Chartered Accountant (CPA/CA) – AP, AR, BAS & Tax Accountant

Location: Remote / Work From Home

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) to support Australian businesses with end-to-end accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, and compliance functions.

This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation, GST, BAS, payroll, financial reporting, and month-end processes.

The successful candidate will work directly with Australian clients and stakeholders, managing accounting operations while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.

Ideal Offshore Candidate (Mandatory)

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • CPA or CA Qualification (Mandatory)
  • 5–10+ years Australian Accounting Experience (Mandatory)

  • Previous experience working for an Australian accounting firm or Australian business

  • Strong knowledge of Australian Taxation and ATO requirements

  • Proven experience with BAS, IAS, GST, Payroll and Superannuation

  • Advanced proficiency in Xero

  • Strong understanding of Australian financial reporting requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting


  • Prepare monthly management accounts

  • Prepare Profit & Loss statements

  • Prepare Balance Sheet reports

  • Maintain General Ledger accuracy

  • Perform month-end and year-end close procedures

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting

  • Analyse financial performance and identify discrepancies

Accounts Payable (AP)


  • Process supplier invoices

  • Reconcile supplier statements

  • Manage payment runs

  • Resolve supplier account discrepancies

  • Monitor outstanding liabilities

Accounts Receivable (AR)


  • Generate and issue invoices

  • Monitor debtor balances

  • Follow up overdue accounts

  • Reconcile customer payments

  • Produce aged receivables reports

BAS, GST & Compliance


  • Prepare and lodge BAS

  • Prepare and lodge IAS

  • Complete GST reconciliations

  • Ensure compliance with ATO requirements

  • Maintain accurate taxation records

Taxation


  • Prepare Individual Tax Returns

  • Prepare Company Tax Returns

  • Prepare Trust Tax Returns

  • Prepare Partnership Tax Returns

  • Assist with tax planning strategies

  • Support year-end tax compliance activities

  • Liaise with external accountants and advisors

Payroll & Superannuation


  • Process payroll accurately and on time

  • Calculate PAYG obligations

  • Manage Superannuation payments

  • Process leave entitlements

  • Ensure Fair Work compliance requirements are met

Reconciliations


  • Bank reconciliations

  • Credit card reconciliations

  • General ledger reconciliations

  • Payroll reconciliations

  • Intercompany reconciliations

Essential Requirements

Mandatory


  • CPA or CA Qualified
  • 5–10+ years Australian Accounting experience

  • Extensive experience preparing BAS and IAS

  • Strong Australian taxation knowledge

  • Strong AP and AR experience

  • Advanced Xero experience

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills

  • Experience preparing management reports

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Stable work history

Highly Desirable


  • Australian Public Practice experience

  • MYOB experience

  • QuickBooks experience

  • ASIC compliance experience

  • Payroll Tax experience

  • FBT knowledge

  • Division 7A knowledge
