Initiates routing, updates status and monitors completion of records using a computerized chart deficiency application.

This position assists physicians, clinical staff and other third parties in various phases of record completion to meet medical documentation/Joint Commission requirements.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

  • Analyzes quantitative and qualitative completeness of records according to charting standards, as described by department policies to ensure record completion and meet St. Elizabeth Healthcare and regulatory agency standards.
  • Enters deficiencies in imaging system for physician completion also for reporting, letter generation, etc., purposes. Works closely with other departments to ensure reports are typed and charts are available for other users.
  • Reanalyzes records as physicians add signature, dictation, etc., to verify completion. Updates and verifies accuracy of computerized deficiency system by reviewing and updating entries after any completed activity.
  • Conducts periodic audits so that accurate and timely information is provided to physicians. Verifies deficiencies for the Medical Executive process.
  • Completes various reports such as productivity reports, chart management statistics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • High school diploma or GED

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Typing skills; use of personal computers; excellent customer service skills.

Kind and Length of Experience:

  • One year clerical experience, knowledge of Health Information Management department or healthcare related job.
