Job Description

WECU is seeking a Charitable Giving Lead to join our Community Impact department in Bellingham, WA. This role directly supports WECU’s ongoing Community Impact efforts by promoting important community causes and service to underserved communities, through volunteerism and charitable giving. Leads the coordination and execution of charitable giving programs and events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and lead the execution of WECU's charitable giving and grant programs. Reviews requests for proposal and financial information of non-profit partners.
  • Serves as key contributor for annual United Way campaign.
  • Assist with community impact campaign development, execution, tracking, reporting and budget reconciliation.
  • Assists with both the Credit Union Advocacy Committee and Team WECU.
  • Assist in writing, design, and production of community impact materials (e.g., charitable giving presentations, newsletter content, and training documents for varied uses/purposes).
  • Represent WECU, as needed, at events such as charitable events, fundraisers, and promotional events.
  • Serve as a credit union liaison, as needed, with local non-profit organizations and strategic community partners.
  • Assist with inventory of community impact supplies.
  • Assist in vendor management.
  • Follows WECU’s policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofits, or philanthropy.
  • BA/BS in communications, marketing, or human services preferred.
  • Fluency in marketing, advertising, community affairs and communications best practices.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Strong storytelling, writing, and communication skills.
  • Community and member event planning skills which include excellent organization, carrying out multiple tasks at the same time, thorough and clear communication with all event stakeholders, creative problem solving and high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of social media and digital marketing best practices are a plus.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with graphic design and copy writing preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively both with direction and independently.
  • Ability to understand financial statements and tax filings.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Accurate writing skills, stressing composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Detail-oriented with impeccable spelling, grammar, writing and basic math skills.
  • Computer and technical skills: Experience using MS Word and Excel software for administrative tasks.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is from $32.01 to $45.19 per hour.
