The Charge Therapist acts as liaison for respiratory care in all areas of the hospital

Reports to: Director, Respiratory Therapy

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Attend all required in-services and educational activities
• Responsible for overall operations of the shift including scheduling adequate personnel for necessary coverage and makes emergency adjustments for his/her shift and the oncoming shift as needed
• Responsible for assisting educators in the proficiency of new employees by assuring they receive adequate orientation and follow-upAll other assigned duties related to Respiratory Therapy
• Participates in performance improvement activities for the department
• Supervises activity of staff therapist to assure operations of department run smoothly and efficiently

Education and Experience
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• + 3 years of experience in Respiratory Care
• Demonstrated ability leading, engaging, motivating, and influencing staff

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• BLS
• (RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist, registered with National Board of Respiratory Care
• ACCS, NPS, RPFT, SDS, or AE-C required. *Internal applicants must obtain specialty credential
within 12 months of being promoted into the role.

Skills and Abilities
• Effective communicator; Must read, write, and speak English fluently
• Demonstrated ability to motivate, engage, and direct staff
• Able to work irregular schedules to accommodate department and patient requirements

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position has interaction with various departments and hospital staff

Physical Capabilities
Requires extended periods of standing, walking, talking, and listening. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work irregular hours and may include weekends

Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures.
