• Provides professional leadership and supervises nursing staff throughout the shift.
• Acts as a role model, mentor, and resource for clinical and administrative guidance.
• Ensures safe staffing levels and appropriate patient‑to‑nurse ratios based on acuity.
• Supports staff in clinical decision‑making, conflict resolution, and prioritization of workload.
• Provides constructive feedback, coaching, and performance support to the team.
• Leads the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager, ensuring continuity of operations.
• Practices within regulatory scope and adheres to DOH and organizational policies.
• Supports competency development and education for junior staff and new hires.
• Maintains mandatory and medical‑unit–specific competencies.
• Participates in clinical audits, research, and evidence‑based initiatives.
• Demonstrates ongoing development in leadership and medical-unit management.

• Oversees patient assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation on a medical unit.
• Ensures accurate and timely documentation in compliance with organizational policies.
• Supports evidence‑based practice in the management of chronic and acute medical conditions.
• Monitors patient progress and identifies changes in condition promptly, ensuring escalation when needed.
• Ensures proper medication administration, monitoring of high‑alert drugs, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinates patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and overall flow within the medical ward.
• Supports safe management of patients with complex medical needs, including comorbidities, chronic illness, and long‑term treatments.
• Ensures readiness of equipment and resources required for medical care delivery.

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing; or
• Associate degree in Nursing from Canada or USA with minimum two (2) years course duration and Successful completion of the National exam:
  
  ✓ USA: NCLEX - RN
  
  ✓ Canada: Licensing Exam
• DOH License or Eligibility
