Job Description

SUMMARY:

Schedules, leads, and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the clinic nursing support staff ensuring adherence to appropriate federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, Family Health Services (FHS) policies, and accepted nursing protocols and procedures. Coordinates services with other FHS departments and provides direct nursing services and patient care as appropriate.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

State of Idaho licensed CMA, LPN, or RN with at least two (2) years experience in a family practice setting and at least one (1) year of experience as a supervisor. There is a $500 referral bonus for this position after 6 months of employment. There is also a $500 sign-on bonus for the employee that will be paid out after 1040 hours are worked and 6 months of employment have been completed. Bilingual English/Spanish required.

CMA: $22.50 - $24.50 DOE

LPN: $26.00 - $30.75 DOE

RN: $35.00 - $39.75 DOE

Employee's can receive up to $520 on the quarterly bonus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Advanced, specialized nursing skills as appropriate to a family practice clinic.
• Knowledge of the specific day-to-day needs of patients within a family practice setting.
• Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.
• Ability to provide professional guidance, instruction, and leadership to nursing and related patient care staff.
• Proficiency working in EHR systems, preferably Nextgen.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
• Organizing and coordinating skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to coordinate and promote quality assurance initiatives within the clinic setting.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Ability to converse in the Spanish language is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists Medical Director , Director of Nursing and the Director of Clinic Operations in assuring appropriateness and quality of care in the following areas:

a. patient scheduling, flow and triage

b. medical equipment ordering, maintenance and inspection

c. provider scheduling

d. ordering and maintenance of medical supply inventory

e. ancillary patient services

f. clinical support staff scheduling.

1. Provides patient triage.
2. Assists Administration with appropriateness and quality of care for facility cleaning, maintenance, equipment and operations.
3. Monitors and coordinates the daily patient care activities of the clinic schedules staff and patients to ensure full coverage of patient care needs at all times and to ensure effective patient services.
4. Leads, guides, supervises and trains employees performing related work.
5. Resolves conflict that occurs within the nursing staff or the nursing staff and other clinical staff employees.

Involves others as needed.

1. Monitors employee performance. Identifies areas where performance improvement is needed. Works with the Director of Nursing and the HR Director to formally address those issues with the employee.
2. Participates in the annual evaluation of the nursing staff.
3. Coordinates services with other departments; maintains communication with community liaison as appropriate.
4. Oversees clinic quality assurance activities and compliance to operational standards.
5. Participates in program development and in development and implementation of operating policy and procedure.
6. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
7. Remains current with standards of primary health care practices.
8. Performs other related functions as required for clinic operations.

It is our policy to properly determine the accuracy of reporting and billing our services in accordance with the rules, laws and regulations of FHS, the state government, and the federal government. FHS employees will do their part to ensure accurate documenting and billing practices, participate in compliance trainings and will identify and report any concerns or activities that may violate these standards.

Each employee will be trained on the FHS Medicare Compliance Plan and the Standards of Conduct and asked to sign a Conflict of Interest Statement at hire and annually thereafter. PATIENT CENTERED MEDICAL HOME (PCMH):

Family Health Services is committed to providing our patients with the highest standards of care by becoming recognized as patient centered medical home. FHS staff is expected to participate in this process by being an active and willing PCMH team member. Specific duties and expectations may vary and will be identified by position and site.

PROCEDURE COMPLIANCE:

Employee must read and understand the general and specific operational, safety, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to this job.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is normally performed in a typical interior office/clinic work environment. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
