As Chapter Lead ALM Portfolio Management, you are responsible for the second-line oversight of ALM risks across ING, covering both Retail and Wholesale Banking portfolios.
The role sits within the Banking Risk department, part of Financial Risk, and focuses on ensuring robust and consistent ALM risk management, behavioural model oversight, and portfolio steering across the Group.
You combine technical expertise with senior risk leadership, providing independent challenge to Treasury and the business, while ensuring ALM risks are effectively translated into risk appetite steering and senior decision-making.
Key responsibilities
Portfolio oversight and risk steering:
- Monitor and challenge the ALM risk profile, including behavioural assumptions and balance sheet sensitivities
- Ensure risks remain within appetite, with clear escalation and follow-up
Model lifecycle oversight:
- Oversee ALM behavioural models (e.g. prepayment, savings, replication)
- Ensure consistent calibration, monitoring and application across entities
- Challenge first-line model usage and assumptions
Governance and functional steering:
- Act as the primary 2LoD counterpart for ALM portfolio management across ING
- Ensure consistent application of frameworks and clear separation between 1LoD and 2LoD
- Drive alignment across local Financial Risk teams
Risk insight and decision support:
- Provide forward-looking analysis and scenarios to support senior decision-making
- Support ALCO and risk committees with clear, decision-relevant insights
- Contribute to balance sheet steering and risk appetite discussions
- 12+ years of experience in Financial Risk, ALM, IRRBB or Treasury-related functions within an international banking environment
- Proven experience with modelling and/or management of ALM dynamics, including behavioural models such as prepayment, savings and replication
- Strong understanding of balance sheet risk management, ALM frameworks and IRRBB concepts
- Experience operating at Group level, coordinating across multiple countries and stakeholders
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into clear risk insights and steering implications
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders
- Senior role at the core of ING’s balance sheet and ALM risk management
- Direct impact on risk appetite, ALM strategy and decision-making
- High visibility across Financial Risk, Treasury and senior governance forums
